Wilson signed
Wilson gets $42 million deal
Broncos shoring LB corps By Adam Schefter Denver Post Sports Writer Post file / John Leyba Broncos middle linebacker Al Wilson gets the biggest bonus Denver has given a defensive player at $11 million. Safety Nick Ferguson says Wilson’s leadership was worthy of a reward. "When all of our linebackers went down with injuries, he was still there and everything rotated around Al," he said. Until Monday night, Broncos Pro Bowl middle linebacker Al Wilson issued the same refrain he sounded last month in Hawaii and during the final season of his contract. "Pay me a little bit," Wilson said. "I'm not asking too much." Like so many running backs he has confronted, Wilson hit it - big. He bling-blinged the Broncos. In the largest signing bonus the Broncos have given a defensive player, Denver awarded Wilson a seven-year, $42 million contract that includes a two-tier signing bonus of $11 million. The $11 million was $400,000 more than the Broncos gave defensive end Trevor Pryce when he signed his new deal in 2001. http://www.denverpost.com/Stories/0,...977190,00.html |
