Top 5 players in the draft
Hey everyone. I put my pet peeve on another thread that every year as mock drafts come out there are all sorts of statements basically like, "(insert name here) won't fall out of the top 5!"
After I aired this, Pak was kind enough to throw out his 5 top players so I thought I'd put it in it's own thread and let us hash it out for a few days. I'm not asking who will or won't go in the top 5. I'm asking who should go in the top 5. Who are the top 5 college players in this years' draft? Here is Pak's comment:

Top 5 players in the draft
1. Sean Taylor 2. Robert Gallery 3a. Larry Fitzgerald 3b. Mike Williams 4. Eli Manning Ask any draft expert and they will tell you the same thing. Those are the top five players, without question. The only other two that could be considered are Kellen Winslow & Ben Roth and those two fall just short. Tommie Harris is good and all, but he may not even be the top DT taken, let lone a top 5 player. |

Top 5 players in the draft
I\'ll go ahead and weigh in--hoping that WhoDat and 08 won\'t be far behind.
1. Robert Gallery--best player on the board 2. Roy Williams--my candidate for rookie of the year. 3. Mike Williams--probably going to get an education from pro corners but I\'m looking forward to watching him learn. 4. Tommy Harris--a DT with a sub 4.8 40--a can\'t miss prospect. 5. Eli Manning--probably as close to a sure thing as any QB headed into the draft can be. Before everyone jumps on me about Sean Taylor--yes, he\'s a great athlete and a great safety. But after all is said, \"safety = luxury\" I\'d take any of these 5 guys over Taylor. Even Ronnie Lott isn\'t as valuable as a great CB, DT, DE, OT, WR, RB or QB. It\'s a value thing and it\'s a little subjective, but I just don\'t see a safety being a top 5 player in this or any draft. |

Top 5 players in the draft
I agree that safety is a luxury position when the player is not someone like Taylor or Roy Williams. Anytime a team has a chance to secure a high-impact starter on defense with a draft pick (any draft pick) they should pull the trigger.
My list: Gallery Taylor Manning Williams Fitzgerald I think that at least one of the WRs will be picked outside the top five picks. |
