Saints win and We Don't have to Worry...

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; about the Falcons. Those guys are still looking good. I thought they might completely fall apart....

I like the post ff but the Saints are doing pretty well when someone worries (not directed at any particular poster, just a general observation).

Sorry! I have to worry about a win like this.
We win TOP nearly 40-20, hold them 1/10 on 3rd down, and 55 yds rushing,
and come within a sneeze of leaving there with our heads hanging down.

Worry? Not a chance. These are high times to be a Saints fan. We just hit 10 wins and clinched a spot in the second season. We're in the playoffs. That we could possibly be worried about anything else shows how far we've come.

The refs made us needlessly worry... It really should not have been this close.

I see your point. We also almost doubled their time of possession. It was sloppy but a win is a win.

Can't agree.
Ugly wins too often and too quickly turn into ugly losses.
This is not the time for this kind of play.
Wins like this open the door to the possibility that less than my best might do.
It's dangerous. Some like living on the edge. I'm not one of them.

You don't think that maybe having a different quarterback out there than the one the Saints game planned for, might have made this win look a little sloppier or more "dangerous" than it really actually was? I mean, Chris Johnson they prepared for. He got like what, a pitiful 23 yards instead of his usual 190 and 153 type numbers. Hasselback they prepared for. He got like, what, two decent passes for gains, and a bunch that were for like, -1 yard, 2 yards, 3 yards, incompletions into the ground, tipped balls (the play he got hurt on was a tipped ball), etc.

Locker they weren't as prepared for. He ran around a bunch, and moved the chains, and also got that crazy pylon-reaching TD -- which if it's Hasselback in there, there's almost no way that play happens like that. You think the Saints watched game film and said, "watch out for that 36 year old Hasselback going flying over the pylon?" LOL. Even the Titans fans are commenting today, on how DIFFERENT their offense looked, with Locker back there yesterday.

Now if this game had happened the way that it did, with Hasselback at QB all the way through the game, with him sitting in the pocket and throwing bombs down the field to threaten at the very end of the game, well then yeah, I'd say the negative nellies would have a real good point about this defense. But this was "throw the game plan out the window" type football, they had to adjust on the fly.

Remember the Seattle playoff game where the Saints D looked abysmally bad, like REALLY STUNK? Who remembers that there was a quarterback controversy in Seattle that week, and they didn't know for sure which of the two was going to start. Saints didn't quite know who to prepare for!

When they prepare for a QB, the defense seems to do fine. When it's a rookie or unexpected guy, and there's not a lot of film on him to study, that's when the Saints D notoriously make the unknown nobody QB's look so great, and everybody complains about it.

I think everyone here knew and proclaimed this would be one tough game. I also think Jack Locker is better than Hasselbeck, along with a ton of Titan fans.

I disagree with 1 point, I think THIS IS THE TIME to get all the ugly out of your system. We need play "perfect" in the playoffs. Outside stadium, away game, a game controlled by refs and penalties, and 21 points off the board for us on a LOT of questionable calls. Titans came into the game a potential AFC playoff team, they left crying about whistles blowing and the Saints playing dirty.

I'll take the win.
