Seriously, this is what I don\'t get. Manning is good, but is he really more than $80 in salary and $20 million in signing bonus better than the other QBs in the top half of the league? I don\'t think the guy is $80 million better than me. He\'s great, don\'t get me wrong, but $155 million in salary and bonuses buys you 5 or more Champ Baileys, or nearly 10 Deuse McAllisters at his current rate. That just seems ridiculous to me. Give me Matt Hassleback and $80 or $90 million dollars in salary over the next 7 years and I\'ll give you a darn good team.

I think it was a very smart move on the Colts part. No athlete is worth this type of money but someone would have given him an amount like this or more.

He is only going to make 8.3 this year... if they used the tag on him, he would have costed the Colts 18.4 million this year alone and the contract is for one year. This way they free up the tag to use on someone else/or not. Also, they won\'t need a qb for years to come.

http://www.ffmastermind.com/bits/hot.shtml The contract is for 7 years. I doubt Manning will be willing to renegotiate after 1 year, and I doubt the Colts will cut him. |

Players renegociate all the time. If Manning wants to have a better chance at winning... he can renegociate after the 2nd season.
