Stats like this can happen, because sometimes Sproles is the hot route and well-covered and gets tackled for no yardage ... i.e. if Brees throws the ball to Sproles on a failed screen and he gets tackled for -4 yards.

And this solidifies the comment by Gruden (I think) that passes to Sproles are like long handoffs.

Everyone has valid points.

Sproles takes a hit well....

BUT - I wish he was not used as much in punt/kick return duty.

STILL -All in all I wish they would not have published this stat.

OR I hope SP sees this & works Sproles into the plan in a completely different way!!

He already has

... Sproles TD catch on Sunday came on a circle route out of the backfield and he caught the ball about 7-9 yards downfield ... great route running by Sproles.
