this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Drew Brees (a.k.a. NFL MVP - screw the "experts") = 5,087 Tom Brady = 4,897 Something tells me Brees plays at least a half next week - even if the 9ers are winning big......

Rain is forecast for the Patriots game; may not be a lot of passing by Brady

I doubt that he may even surpase his own record before he is done. Todays nfl is nothing like it was when marino set it. Todays nfl is built for passing and it will continue to be more geared toward the pass in thefuture. I hate all these rule changes.

Seeing how the Saints are on the pace to break the NFL record for offensive yards in a season I would guess Marino had a lot worse running game behind him, I don't know really how that affect things. |

The mighty Drew has surpassed Marino but it is the total at the end of the regular season as everyone is registering SEASON record. So the Brady angle applies.
Drew plays and the seasonal record stands for the moment. I think Drew, Brady and especially Rodgers all will get close over the next 5 years.

The truth is Marino ran that offense and it was not the place to be if you were a RB. |

If the NFL gets it's way the league will be playing 18 games soon. This record will not last 27 years like Marino's record did.
But Brees is awesome and the team deserves the attention. What makes it more sweet is it was a huge win over the Falcons in a blowout! Just like the first game in the dome after being displaced for a year. Poor Falcons! On MNF again! |
