Football Freakonomics: Saints 2011 Passer Rating Differential
Tonight NFL Total Access had a segment on peaking at the right time. It was titled the Art & Science of Peaking. Stephen Dubner, co-author of Freakonomics, was featured in the segment.
You can view the video here: They made the point that 60% of all NFL Champions since 1940 have been #1 or #2 in passer rating differential (PRD). The equation for PRD is simple: PRD = Team Passer Rating - Opponent Team's Passer Rating They mention the 2010 Packers and how dominant they were last year in the PRD statistic. They also mention Mike Ayers, GB Director of Research and Development, who apparently reminded the team about physical AND emotional recovery. This is a work in progress, but.... For the 2011 regular season comparing NO to DET NO PRD = 24.1 DET PRD = 15.1 |

I wouldn't call him a genius. He's basically saying, a little more than half the time, the team with a good QB and a good defense wins the championship. Well, duh!

I do agree that a great QB and good D are pretty important components of a SB team, though. Who would have thought? |

I was watching the documentary last night actually and it had me interested.
They made the connection that 50 percent of the reason that crime dropped from the 80's to the 90's when it was expected to go up was because of the Roe vs Wade. MAKES PERFECT SENSE... Abort the criminals before they are born, LMAO. PRD makes more sense to me than a gay Power Poll ranking BS. |
