I liked Gay too. He had concussion problems if I remember right. He's still playing football I think....I heard his name called the other day.

Don't get me wrong, I like Meachem, but there are worse things than losing him in the FA. While he has been good - he has had some drops like the one against the Lions. I think that as long as the Saints have Graham, Colston & Moore it doesn't really matter that much who you insert into the remaining spots.
Keeping Nicks is one of the keys for the next FA period, because Brees will stay even if they have to put the franchise tag on him. And there's already quite a lot of money committed to the O-Line. 2012 salaries: Bushrod: base salary 3,25M; cap hit 6,75M Evans: base salary 3M; cap hit 4,7M Strief: base salary 1,9M; cap hit 2,74M Brown: base salary 495K; cap hit 745K Tennant: base salary 490K; cap hit 533K De la Puente: base salary 480K; cap hit ~550K (2011 numbers) And Evans' contract will increase annually until being 8M with a 10,2M cap hit in 2016, and I guess Nicks will want something in the same neighborhood as Evans is getting, which would be around an average of 8M/season (cap hit) for the duration of the contract when signing bonuses as factored in. |

He has made some great plays for us - the forced/recovered/scored on fumble from an interception, that he had, was one of them greatest plays ever!! |
