Vic Fangio, the 49ers' defensive coordinator, wishes that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell had stepped in when the Saints signed free-agent running back Darren Sproles in July.
"I can't believe they got him for the cheap price that they got him for replacing Reggie Bush," Fangio said. "I think if it was the NBA, the commissioner might have stepped in and stopped that move." The 5-foot-6, 190-pound Sproles mightlook small, but he has been a huge X-factor for the Saints this season. Bush caught 81 passes from Drew Brees the past two years combined before taking his talents to Miami, but Sproles caught 86 this season alone. And he averaged two more yards on those catches (8.3) than Bush did. Read more: 49ers must stop Sproles, Saints' little engine 49ers must stop Sproles, Saints' little engine |
