Yea, plus after not getting the 7 points immediately, and losing Thomas to a head-butt, that I've read since my last post, was apparently legal, we became on entirely one-dimensional team. And we paid for it on a few drives, when Brees was shut-down.
All of this attack on Greg Williams is unwarranted. I'm not sure how you could watch a game with 5 turnovers, and think "God the Defense sucked." The defense was the only thing that kept us in the game, and if we hadn't had the fumbles, we'd have won. I mean how often do you actually have a guy knocked out on the 3 yard-line, after driving all the way down the field? That's just bad luck. Anyone hear anything about that? Is he OK, Pierre? I was kind of surprised he didn't come back. His running style is clearly what we were lacking, the get hit, yet get a few more yards, somehow, even though it looks like he's down. |

TO HAVE THOSE OPPORTUINITIES TO BEAT US WITH 40 SECONDS LEFT AND ALEX SMITH AS QB...that was F****** pitiful

And the blitz doesn't put pressure on the QB anyway. So a very mediocre OL and a very pedestrian offense and an very game-managing quarterback lay 36 points on our defense. We need a pass rushing front 4 / front 7. We need to start shutting down other teams' running games before the second quarter. We need to take care of the ball on offense and special teams. AND WE NEED A DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR WHO RELIES ON SOLID PLAY-CALLING AND PLAYER TALENT RATHER THAN GIMMICKS AND SLEIGHT-OF-HAND. TRANSLATED: A DIFFERENT DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR.
