Whats the word in ATL?
Gator, you are only asking for more pain. No good can come from reliving the brutal events of this past weekend. My only consolation is that I only listened to the SAINTS on the radio on Sunday, rather than sticking around in Baton Rouge to catch them on the tube.
I don\'t know if I could have handled actually watching that heartbreaking performance on TV after freezing my azz off in Tiger Stadium while watching that train wreck Saturday night. Oh well, this is a new week ad anything is possible. Who knows? Both teams are certainly capable of playing better than they did this past weekend and I believe thing will turn around. The SAINTS should be back on track (let\'s hope) and LSU can\'t play any worse. So, let\'s just try to support our guys and look to the future, as in winning this weekend. Go SAINTS!!!!! Whats the word in ATL?
I do agree Gator. You win some and you lose some. I think in both cases, the Tigers and the SAINTS deserved to lose those games.
Both teams have been lucky to win a number of games they have this season, not because they have not had the talent or ability to win, just because they have not always fully used that ability and executed good game plans. The Tigers and the SAINTS have both let opponents unnecessarily jump out to early leads or worse yet, blown big early leads. They have both found themselves resorting to last minute drives to catch up or hope and prayer type plays to try to seal a victory. Both teams are better than that. Good preparation, coaching and the best use of talent can make life on the field a lot easier. And it can make watch these tams play a lot more enjoyable. I still believe in both teams, even if they don\'t win a whole lot more games. They have played hard so far, won better than their fair share of games against pretty formidable opponents and have earned a very decent amount of respect. I just hope that they both do win out and make it to the next level. But a lot of that will depend on Saban and Haslett. I for one have a lot of faith in these guys and think they\'ll steer our boys in the right direction. Go Tigers!!!!! Go SAINTS!!!!! David in Houston |

Gatorman, again you\'re right. We will always see the sunshine fans talking about how great a win is, but by the same token you will see and already are seeing the rainy day fans calling for someones head. Still I think back to the start of the season. I remember how none of us,(including me) thought we would have a chance against such a loaded schedule. Yet here we are in the middle of Novenber at 7-3. I will ask again, how many of us thought we\'d be 7-3 and looking for the playoffs. Hell after the last offseason I wondered how in the world can we win another game after all we gave up. Yes this team has had it\'s problems, and yes the defense isn\'t the Dome Patrol, but this last game against the Falcons I think they did a pretty good job for not playing together long. I still look for this team to be a team to be reckoned with. As some others have said in the last few days. Hey, if you want off the bandwagon get off. Believe me you won\'t hurt anyones feelings here. Constructive criticism is one thing but downing this team is another. I feel very proud to be a long time Saints fan (since 1967). I do love my Saints.

Whats the word in ATL?
Way to tell it Sam. I too have been a SAINTS fan since moving to the Crescent City in \'69. It has not been easy sometimes staying an avid, supportive fan. Hell, it has been downright hard at times, but I have stuck with it.
I have been to at least one (usually several and sometimes all home games every year since -- much less since moving to Houston). I even went to every \'Aints\" homegame and never once considered wearing a bag on my head. I understand that there will always be fair weathered fans, but it certainly appears that the SAINTS have more than their fair share. If all anyone wants to do is whine and complain, I ask sincerely that they do it somewhere where they don\'t piss everyone else off, namely not here where REAL fans come to talk up their team, no matter what happens. Again, just my opinion. Go SAINTS!!!!! David in Houston |

Whats the word in ATL?
actually i think this whole season so far has been a disappointment, i thought at the beginning of the year that the saints should have gone undefeated, but that thought was lost when the lowly lions beat our asses

Undefeated? Isn\'t that just a little bit far fetched? It would be nice but those days in the NFL are over. I think 7-3 is very good considering all the termoil last year and this past offseason. That\'s just my opinion.

Whats the word in ATL?
yes undefeated, i mean at the beginning of the year, they beat the toughest teams in their schedule so they should have gone undefeated
lets take a look at their schedule 1. T.B. i think that tampa is way overrated and i thought the saints should pull out tough games against them 2. G.B. i figured dis would be a tough game but G.B. has gotten some solid play but they could be beat, and they were. 3. chicago da bears were so lucky last year it wasnt even funny, the record this team has this year shows how bad this team really is 4. Lions just saying that word speaks for itself, and the saints actually beat themselves in this game, plenty of turnovers and penaties and punt return for a TD killed our chance for victory but it was a game we should have easily won 5. steelers, i figured the steelers were also overrated like tampa, the media rides their dick their record last year was so fake and they proved that by choking in the playoffs and at the start of the season 6. redskins 2 words- daniel snyder 7. 49ers- saints toughest challenge, but a game that we had the ability to win and we did 8. falcons- we should have easily beaten this team but again we played down to our comp. 9 carolina- they were the sorriest 3-0 team to start the season and its showing up now 10. falcons- should be able to beat handily again 11. browns- its the browns 12. bucs- tough game, able to win 13. ravens- lost plenty of starters on both sides of the ball, figured that this team wouldnt be very good except for uncle ray ray 14. vikings- no D at all, moss is distraction, culpepper is overrated, bennet was a waste of a draft pick 15. bengals- lmao 16. panthers again as u can see, these were all games that the saints have the ability to win, if they would just play up to their ability and play saints football and not into the hands of their opponents the saints should have beatin the lions and played down to the falcons both times, if that doesnt happen, they are undefeatd with the easiest part of the schedule coming up!! but that didnt happen [Edited on 20/11/2002 by pakowitz] |

Pak,
I can see where you are trying to go with the thought of a perfect season, but I just can\'t bring myself to imagine that it had much chance of ever becoming a reality. Yeah, the SAINTS have more talent (at least offensively) now than any other N.O. team in the past, but the defense is no where near tops in the league. I don\'t care how many points you put on the board, if you can\'t stop the other team from scoring at will, you are going to lose at least some of your games. It\'s hard to say where the SAINTS might end up in the playoff hunt this year, but I still think we have a decent chance to wrap up our division, if and only if our d-line gels significantly, possibly with the help of aa experience free agent or two, and if we are lucky enough not to suffer any more serious injuries to key players. The potential for a great season has always been there, but I have to question whether the ever had a real shot at going undefeated. Just my opinion on this one... Go SAINTS!!!!! David in Houston |

nothing wrong with your opinion, but im just saying that i thought that we could have gone undefeated b/c we do have the talent to be a force in this league, and we have seen flashes of that, but they dont turn it on for the complete game

Whats the word in ATL?
Pak,
I agree that there have been flashes of brilliance, but I don\'t think we ever had the total package -- a top defensive unit to go along with what was and could very well still be the leagues top offensive scoring machine. Without both, its hard to waltz through the NFL as it is today. Go SAINTS!!!!! David in Houston |
