In a matchup system offense, a player's effectiveness is highly dependent on playcall, defensive scheme, defensive player and situation. One cannot evaluate any receiver as if they were a #1 option out of the slot every play.
For what system that is employed, and Meachem's skills, I think he is a crucial asset. His speed, his ability to catch the ball in traffic, his ability to turn into a defender - he's prevented a number of dead certain interceptions - makes him indispensable. Plus, he's not a prima donna. |

This is absolutely word for word perfect on Robert Meachem. I believe he is an asset we would seriously regret letting go. I also love the spot on how many interceptions he breaks up. I remember one specifically in the Lions game. I turned to the guy next to me and pointed at the big screen and told him to check out Meachem's break-up. Very savvy play!
