this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I think he is one of those diamond-in-the-rough guys on our D (and in spite of all the dislike for our defense, we do have a few of them) that have the acceptable raw talent to be playmakers...I am hopeful ...

I think he is one of those diamond-in-the-rough guys on our D (and in spite of all the dislike for our defense, we do have a few of them) that have the acceptable raw talent to be playmakers...I am hopeful that a new coordinator/coach is going to breathe some life into these guys, much the same way Williams did his first year with a lot of the guys he had back then. Playing with more experience and a fresh attitude -- remember how guys who looked kinda mediocre under Gibbs did much better when the new DC came in, and this has happened to defenses on other teams, including this year's 49ers. That's my hope.

One thing to consider. No mini camp, OTAs, limited training camp after playing in a 3-4 defense in college. We need to re-evaluate after next season.

although someone like spags or del-rio would clear that position up. it can't be no worse to axe that position just because of the bad mojo this defense has had. the db coach needs to be called out. this is the nfl not high school i cannot go through another yr of all the dropped pick offs that may have saved this season from ending where it did. just unacceptable for nfl caliber dbs. when the tv crewmen said that gw quoted we just can't catch a ball made him look like the blame.

After watching this season through, I don't know that we have ANY talent on our defense. Of course I don't know that we don't have any talent on our defense either. By the end of the Colts game, every OC in the league had our defensive schemes figured out. That played hell with the stats. I was once a huge GW fan, but to see the same blitz called four times in a row? Man! I'm thinkin' a new DC is gonna show us that we already have a butt load of talent on that side of the ball. I'm hopin' you're all pleasantly surprised by all the players we keep that some folk on this board want to see gone. A new DC and an uninterrupted preseason to put it all together? I'm almost feelin' my first Who Dat? in a couple of weeks comin' on. I'm gonna save it though for when I hear who gets hired.
