I do not think Shanle is a stud LB, but yes, he is smart, and what he said IS true. The fact he waited until GW left shows he was a team player and did what he was told, and did not undermine his 'coach' |

The level of mediocrity some of you people are willing to accept is mind boggling. Keep telling yourself that if someone else was better they would have been in there. Whatever helps you sleep at night. Keep in mind the same person putting Shanle on the field was the one to say "Roman Harper is the best player on the defense" That in itself should squash that! In 9 YEARS!!! He has a total of 544 tackles. Avg 60.4 a year (only 389 solo) 8.5 SACKS!!! In 9 EFF'n YEARS!! wait...I got one even better that that..3 INT's!!!! 2 of which came in one year!!! Yeah..he is great. Lets make him a LB coach, just please not here. We want our LB to be better not BELOW AVG!! |

He said something that everyone on this board has said numerous times, and I agreed with him. Did you misunderstand the part where I said he was NOT a great linebacker? |

I don't agree with this at all. Prime example: We had Rob Ninkovich. We let him go and kept Shanle. Ninkovich had one helluva season. Shanle had, well.....a Shanle season. So.....there is something more there than "we didn't have anyone better".

OK BACK ON TOPIC...........
![]() Ok, back to the original topic, Shanle said Williams defense was solved by opponents. I think Shanle is right, it is the truth. Williams was brought in to give us a "one hit of wonder" so we could have a defense aggressive enough to match our offense and win a SuperBowl. He did just that, and we need to thank him. But teams immediately began to adjust. I also think Sharper was a field general coach. He kept those DB's catching balls and making INT's. Since he's left, our DB's have never been the same. ![]() |

The number of picks they left on the field this year is mind boggling. I can think of 10X the ball went directly through their hands, and those are just the ones I remember. And Shanle, the one and only pick he got...he actually got burned bad on that play but by sheer luck, it bounced right in his hands. He can say whatever he wants because it won't matter next year. See ya.

The man has a Superbowl ring that none of us will ever have! ;-]]
If he retires tomorrow he has seen the top of his profession, even though he dwells near the center of his peers with respect to skill and ability at the Linebacker position. I'm just pleased to hear that WE were not the only ones seeing what was going on. That the players knew that as they ran onto the field, we were in a losing position and happened to overcome that on 13 occasions during the regular season. I've been calling for the "man-boob", Greg Williams, to get thrown under the bus by SOMEONE for some time, but really, I'm pleased that we were more professional than that and got through it. Now... ON TO THE HOMEGAME SUPER BOWL!!! Alaska |
HERE WE COME, TA GE' CHU!!!!
