Other than being blown out 75-3, that ending is exactly what you deserved. The only thing missing was the electricty going out at Candlewatt Stadium 30 seconds after your season ended because you couldn't defend your home turf (cow pasture).

Just know that you face a first place schedule next year and you will see us again, but not on Thursday night to open the season!

Well, when you're a 1 trick pony, and their defense was the trick, the NFL figures you out real quick... I just don't see them sneaking up on teams next season. Just my opinion.

Actually, they did get one on the last series of regulation.....but yeah I loved seeing them go down like that. It just stings (even a week later) knowing that we would've been playing the Giants in the dome today...sigh

I'm over it. We lost. We blew coverage on defense. Our organization has already started to fix the problem and we hired a new d-coordinator. We will be better.

They better hope the Lions don't get a DB and/or a RB, we already got our 'elite' QB (elite for Detroit anyway, no disrespect to Brees, who is a tier above Stafford) and we already know what we can do with him.

Looks like the NFL stats gave them the 3rd down conversion on the last play of regulation. As of this morning, they have them going 1 for 13 on 3rd down conversion.

Between facing a #2 seed schedule full of real teams, with the Rams trending upwards in their weak division, and a whole year for the rest of the league to look at film and figure out their new coach and their one-trick-pony offense, the 49ers will be lucky to crack higher than 8-8 next year. Yeah they beat the Saints, but their vaunted "#1 defense" was exposed when the Saints hung 32 freaking points on them. You could see the Giants were using the same exact blueprint on offense and defense from the Saints game, just not making the same turnovers. Other teams will replicate this.

I don't think any team that has beaten the Saints in the playoffs, under Sean Payton, has ever won their next playoff game, am I correct in this? That's kind of an interesting stat right there.

Alex Smith. Incredible. He completes passes when he has no pressure and when receivers are wide open. If he were under the pressure that Manning and Brees were under, his one-digit passer rating would have been another embarrassing playoff record.

I can't believe the commentators were chastising fans for criticizing Alex Smith. He hasn't gotten better, his team just has. These two playoff games, he had 4 good throws and Vernon Davis basically did the rest. It was their defense that kept them close.

Refs helped too, all Saints bias aside, in the Giants game, that fourth quarter sack on Eli, the linebacker was waaaaaay offsides, no flag. That long fourth quarter run by Gore, some serious holding at the point of attack. But whatever, they lost now. They may repeat as NFC Worst (West) champs because I don't see Rams, Cardinals or Seahawks getting any better, but they gotta go through us, New England, and Green Bay to get another first-round bye.
