Brees v. Rodgers (see jpg for main comparison)
The main comparions is in a chart in the jpg below. I don't understand what made Rodgers so much better than Brees.
OTHER NOTABLE STATS FROM 2011 REGULAR SEASON RECORD: Brees 13-3 Rodgers 14-1(didn’t play the last game of the season) GAMES W/5 PASSING TDS (via espn stats): Brees 3 Rodgers 1 SACKS AND YARDS LOST FROM BEING SACKED (via nfl stats): Brees 24/158 Rodgers 36/219 OTHER THINGS WORTH MENTIONING BREES: …Brees shattered Dan Marino’s 27-year-old mark by passing for 5,476 yards, and his 468 completions broke Peyton Manning’s 2010 record of 450. Brees finished the season completing 71.6 percent of his passes, breaking his own 2009 NFL record (70.6). He also surpassed 300 yards passing for seven straight games and 13 times during the season, both beating league marks he already held … Thanks to Brees’ brilliance, the Saints set several single-season records, including offensive yards with 7,474 and first downs with 416. The above text is from the following article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports...LqQ_story.html RODGERS: In the 2011 Green Bay’s backup quarterback, Matt Flynn, broke the record for most passing yards and passing touchdowns in a game by a Green Bay quarterback. |

moot point since its over. i agree that its very frustrating. to give the man only 2 votes is gay and then give him offensive player of the year as consolation is gayer. he probably doesnt care about the accolades but i do. im so sick of rodgers and the medias love for him. its like hes the next brady in terms of media received felatio

I know its a moot point, but I wanted to do the research to see If I was missing something that would warrant Rodgers being a landslide vote. I understand he sat out a whole game so his stats took a hit on that front, but Brees's stats still would have been better in every category except maybe passing TDs and INTs.
I personally think that Brees and Rodgers should have been co-mvps. Although I hate the idea of "co" anything, I think this is one time where it would have been warranted. It's just weird how Rodgers wasn't even Offensive Player of the Year, yet he was MVP. Imo, you should have to be either the Offensive or Defensive player of the year to be the MVP, but my opinion is irrelevant so I degress. |

There are two previous occasions when there have been two co-recipients to the MVP, 1997 and 2003. And in 2003 it was shared by two QBs, Manning and McNair, so it's not like it would've been unheard of.

Just don't understand 48-2 voting? Even if Rogers wins, 48-2 is a landslide. Where does that come from?

The fact that Green Bay beat Detroit without Rodgers should prove that he is not the MVP.
