Drew Brees and the Saints have said so many times that both sides want to get a long-term contract done that it seems like a mere formality that things will get worked out long before it’s time for Brees to get to work at the Saints’ first offseason minicamp.

But one report suggests that contract talks aren’t moving as quickly as the Brees side expected: ESPN’s John Clayton said on SportsCenter this morning that Brees’ agent, Tom Condon, is surprised by the slow pace of the talks.

Just call him Condom because he is a ***** on the inside. There are multiple deals to get done not just Brees. He if doesn't understand that he can suck it. Brees' deal will get done by the end of the month but Loomis is just trying to work out a deal that will allow us to sign other FA as well.

and why exactly is he posturing? Brees is going to get what he wants...
the question is, what does he want? Is it a Brady/Manning salary and Matt Tenant at starting guard, or a lower salary and Nicks (and hopefully) Colston back?

Its all part of the process, Drew should fire this clown for complaining to the press if he actually did cause I don't believe half the stuff that comes out of Mr. Macky's mouth so who knows the truth .... another reason why negotiations need to stay out of the papers

Well he's posturing so that he can sway the media and general public to side with him by telling everyone everywhere that he wants to get a deal done now but Loomis is not cooperating. He wants to be the good guy and make out Loomis to be the bad guy. Don't think it's working though.

What everyone does know is that Brees wants to play the remainder of his career as a Saint and then retire as a Saint. Condon probably sees this as a disadvantage to his negotiations.

From what I noticed in the labor dispute, where Drew threw ownership under the bus repeatedly, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Drew milked the Saints for every single dime he can possibly get.

There will be no "I'll ltake a little less so you can sign Colston and Nicks".
