No more Michigan/Ohio State slow-footed defenders.

No more Tennessee Vol receivers. (though if Meachem moves into Colston's spot and exceeds, I'll gladly review my position)

No more So-Cal short defensive tackles.

Lewis would be a nice addition at the WLB, but I do think that there are other LB prospects who would better fit the Saints'/Spags' system of playing. Nevertheless, I'd be happy with his selection - he'll have to work on his tackling though.

I'm not that high on Norman, but he would probably be the tallest CB in the Saints' roster, so I wouldn't be against the pick. But I'd like to see them getting after either Casey Hayward or DeQuan Menzie if they'll pick a CB this high.

Tony Bergstrom would be a great pick up for the Saints at RT.

Travian Robertson could be a good pick up, but I think he might still be available at lower rounds, 6th-7th.

I like the pick of Jack Crawford, but I doubt he'll be available at his point in the draft. I'd at least exchange Crawford's pick with Robertson's pick. He'll be a work in progress for sure, but he might end up being a JP-P type of a player for the Saints under Spags' tutelage.

I can't argue with Cattouse in the 6th round, since he would be great for depth as he can play both safety positions.

Antoine McClain could be a replacement for Nicks if everything works out with his progression to the NFL level, but, in any case, he's a big pile of humanity who'll be difficult to push around.

I'd be fine with the pick of Tank Carder with the last pick, but I would like for the Saints to also pick up a WR prospect at some point in the draft, and the 7th might be a good spot for a low-risk/high-reward type of a pick at that position.

I think he's a Sean Payton type of player very good athlete who's smarts can translate during the game - opposite Martez "Balls Off - Lights Out" Wilson - you'd see an instant transformation...

Watch the youtube highlights on this guy - he could even play Free Safety and be a very good one...

Yeah, I found some more film on him and, if there, could be another one for us in the fourth round gem category...

I had him in round six, but buzz is he may be moving up slightly...

Crawford's motor is the question, but he could be a round four guy...

He's a good all-around athlete to have and I'm not so sure he couldn't develop into a starter...

Well, if we do lose he who shall not be named or the other kid from Tennessee who we're still waiting to take off, we've got guys like Arrington and Morgan who need playing time - Brees will make them all look and play better...

Yeah, just saw that... even Mayock said: "that is not a good number."

How about stating the obvious. I think he was/is Mayock's highest projected LB or at least one of the highest.

I mean Dontari Poe had almost the same time with 100 lbs worth of additional meat on him.

I would love Poe in a Saints uniform.

Too bad he won't make it out of the 1st round, he'll probably be picked somewhere around 10th and 20th pick, especially after he had such a good combine.

He'd be really good - he played both 3-tech and 5-tech and NT, and they also dropped him into coverage at times - that's versatility.

Cal LB Mychal Kendricks led all linebackers at the Combine in the forty-yard dash (4.47, official), vertical jump (39 1/2"), and broad jump (10 feet, 7 inches).

Kendricks is an athletic specimen at 5-foot-11, 240 and has the production to back it up after earning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior. While not known especially well in the media community, the thumping inside linebacker has some Jon Beason-ish traits. He could surprise as a second-round pick. Feb 27 - 3:25 PM

This was just an excerpt on rotoworld.

Thanks Papz!

Philly fans are as passionate about the Eagles as Boston fans are about the Red Sox!

With his size, and per the article, he's definitely a middle backer...

jeanpierre 03-01-2012 06:47 AM

FinSaint 03-01-2012 08:35 AM

He could've been a 2nd rounder, but with combine he had and the athletic capabilities he showed, there's no way he is still available when the Saints pick in the 2nd round.

jeanpierre 03-13-2012 12:40 AM

Well...we should find out soon how many picks we'll actually get to keep...

This is BS...

Will we have any draft picks after Friday afternoon?

I've made my statement to the Commissioner...

3rd- DL Jared Crick
4th- WR Tommy Streeter
5th- TE Michael Egnew

Take out Egnew, push the bottom four up, and insert DT Nicolas Jean-Baptiste into the 7th.

So long second round pick.

Will someone like Ellis be traded, if he can be, for a second/third round pick; can't believe he stays with Bunkley's signing...

A few wanted Randle drafted out of LSU with feedback is mixed - some say he goes as early as late first round, others say he lacks speed to be drafted on first day. With Colson signing, I doubt we pick another possession receiver though Randle looks like he'd be a good one...

We still need front seven help on defense and offensive tackle help as well...

The Saints need to evaluate the Safeties and decide if this really is the best pair of starters we could have...

Tight End depth/youth would help...

What will be do? We'll draft Running Backs and Cornerbacks ;)

jeanpierre 03-28-2012 01:15 PM

Draft Needs:

(1) Linebacker

(2) Offensive Tackle

(3) Defensive Tackle

(4) Tight End

jcp026 03-28-2012 01:53 PM

3rd- Mychal Kendricks
4th- Tommy Streeter
5th- Derek Wolfe
6th- Ron Brooks
6th- Akiem Hicks
7th- Donald Stephenson

jeanpierre 03-29-2012 01:07 AM

I'd be highly surprised if Kendricks is there, that late, in the third round.

Streeter doesn't have good measurables, but there is better value in the fourth round...

Now I like Wolfe, alot; his size is prototypical of a 4-3 defensive lineman; though I think he could probably come off the board as early as the third round, late, where the Saints are currently slotted to draft...

Brooks in the sixth is an intriguing option; be interesting to see what he could bring and how he could develop with such limited playing time...

Hicks washed out of LSU; like Brooks, limited playing time in college because of high level of talent; great size, measurables...

Stephenson shouldn't be there in the 7th rounjd...

I think with Lofton, Chamberlain and now Hawthorne we're pretty much set at linebacker. Defensive Tackle and and cornerback are pretty thin at the moment. I know we have Tom Johnson, Mitch King, etc. at DT but Ellis only has one more year left on his rookie contract I think so we have to beef up the pass-rushing DT spot.

FinSaint 04-03-2012 09:49 PM

What am I missing here when some seem to think Kendricks makes it past the early 2nd round?

jeanpierre 04-04-2012 06:55 AM

Will we get any of our draft picks back with the appeal?

Does Payton geaux to New York to fall on his sword and ask Herr Goodell not to punish Benson and his poor loyal Saints consumers?

RaginCajun83 04-04-2012 09:35 AM

I'd love to see the Saints select Derek Wolfe DT/DE out of Cincinati in the 5th if he's there. Reminds me of Bryan Young (high motor) and played DE, DT and NT while in college

Yeah, I agree, he has been my favorite for the DT pick from the start of the mock drafts - a DT/DE hybrid who has great upper body strength and ability, but he needs to work on his lower body if he is to become successful in the NFL.

Getting him in the 5th would be great, but I'd settle for getting him in the 4th - he might even be gone off the board as early as when the Saints pick in the 3rd round, depending on how he has been evaluated by teams with DT needs.

jeanpierre 04-06-2012 11:01 PM

Derek Wolfe, great call Ragin; but he's not lasting to the fifth...

jeanpierre 04-09-2012 06:50 AM

Wonder if Rodge might at least give us our draft picks back?

jeanpierre 04-10-2012 08:02 AM

Guess we're not getting our draft pick for this year back?!? :brood:

...maybe we should continue to trade away our round 1 picks in case we've other pending action waiting for us?!? ;)

This is who I'm liking...

I really, really like this kid. That said, so do alot of other people. This guy's not making it to the 4th round, much less the 5th. If he's the guy we want, we're going to have to use our 3rd rounder to get him (if he's there at that time).
