The answer to this question is sooooooo simple:
The question: Who should perform at halftime at the next super bowl? The obvious answer: Van mother ****ing Halen. Eddie and Diamond Dave and Alex are at the top of their game. People have been DYING for it to happen, and "A Different Kind of Truth" does not disappoint. It's the right band at the right time and is precisely targeted to the Super Bowl demographic. Oh, and Wolfie is no Anthony, but he doesn't suck, and he's Valerie's son after all, so, I mean...how could it NOT be Van Halen? You're welcome... |

So, of course Zooey was my first thought, but even I have to admit that She and Him just aren't big enough yet for the Super Bowl halftime. In a perfect world Zooey sings the National Anthem and Van Halen rocks half time. Oh, and the Saints win the game 49-3. ![]() |

I think they're the perfect choice. The new CD is classic Van Halen...a little darker maybe, and I know you either love or loathe David Lee Roth, but I sure as hell dig it, and their shows are selling out all over the country...AND the last show of the tour is...wait for it...NEW ORLEANS.
Zooey digs VH. ![]() |

OK. I've just never liked them, I've type cast them into the same garbage bin as f.e. Def Leppard, and that is one bin which contents should never be recycled.
Again, just my opinion, and I never watch the halftime show, so it's all the same to me who they have performing. But if it was Zooey and her ukulele I might watch... |

Def Leppard is "A" Ball. Van Halen is in a completely different league. Without Mutt Lange Def Leppard is just something that happened in the 80's that a few people can remember. Van Halen is almost (and in some cases IS) genre-defining. Revolutionary? Outside of Eddie probably not. But dude, there's an edge to what they do (and I'm talking about with Roth) that legitimizes their music, even when David is show-boating. LOL |
