I think Nicks will get tagged. The front office needs to get a move on before we lose to many players.

I agree. I think Brees will get a fair contract; it may not make him the highest paid player, but that would be because Brees is trying to help the Saints save money to sign other players.

I believe the Saints will make an offer to Colston; and put the ball firmly in his court to decide if he wants to test the FA waters or stay with the team that has the best chance to get back to another Super Bowl.

Tag Nicks. Let Meach and Henderson, Vilma, Porter, and Will Smith go via trade if we can and problem solved. If anyone can get something done with the big 3 Loomis can.

Why would you trade Smith? He has had a very good career as a Saint. 399 tackles, 61.5 sacks, 1 safety, 23 pass deflections, and 2 interceptions. Hes definitely not part of the problem. I would let Ellis go before I got rid of Smith. He has always been a reliable pass rusher.

Nicks is the best guard in the league we can't let him leave tag him. I didn't not know Smith career stats was that good. I don't want to get rid of Smith he needs to restructure he's contract for the team. He's a captain on the defense and he needs to take a page out Drews book you know he would do it.

Smith he needs to restructure he's contract for the team[/QUOTE].! I said before Smith, will not want to play for another team at this stage of his career. Just for the best shot for another ring. I do think he will redo the contract. just a feeling

Because other than his 2009 season (a season where our entire defense flourished), he's been nothing more than average for a starting DE. That is hardly worthy of a $68 million contract. Over the past 2 years, his decline has increased even more. That's why you would trade Will Smith......if you can find a team willing to bite. Here are those stats you mentioned:

That is exactly why we need another DE on the other side to pressure the QB. When Smith has help he is impossible to stop. That would be like asking any starting DE in the league to get it done on there own. It's not possible, it always needs to be a combined effort. The sacks he did get this year were when Harper or some other DB or free safety was blitzing the QB. Smith would be a horrible player to waste. Trust me, if we could get a quality DE on the other side his numbers would increase exponentialy.
