The media has made that the scoop, because it intrigues readers/viewers when you make it the whole point of emphasis - the sole idea behind the "performance system" was not to pay players "extra" for injuring players, but to encourage them to perform better on the field in general. But having included that on the list of "performances" which would be rewarded is something that seems to separate this particular "bounty" system from its stereotype which almost all the teams seem to have in some form or another. And that decision - going by what the reports are saying - was made by GW and, therefore, it would only be logical to target him as the main culprit behind this illegal activity. |

Yes, but it still doesn't mean that the other parties will or should be relieved of their responsibilities concerning the said activity.

not relieved, but fair punishment based on the level of involvement. I don't think it's right to give the same punishment to all involved.

When college football first started the object was to take the BEST player(s) out of the game. There were something like 30 deaths until the Prez stepped in with the NCAA. So why do it? Comradery, respect, bragging rights, winning. It's a black eye on the NFL and they want it stopped. They can't go after every team so what do you do? You go after the team that has the best evidence against them and throw the book at em'. It sends a clear message to the rest of the teams that this part of the game will no longer be tolerated. |

Oh you most certain go after every team. You have to hold anyone and everyone accountable.
NFL is being sued by players saying that they didn't do enough to protect them. So everyone who raises question will be looked at and held accountable. GW was called to NY for questioning to see what other teams he was doing this with and confirm other reports coming to light. The Saints are just the most prominent ones out right now but there will be more... stay tuned. What is going to be funny is that in a way the Rams are going to be suffer penalty by their DC being suspended or even worse... so technically this will affect other teams already. |

Just to play the devil's advocate, maybe that's one of the reasons our defense sucked last year. They were so focused on going for the "big hits" they forgot about the small hits that really make a defense work. (Well that and GW calling the same blitz twenty times a game.)
Of course I don't remember that many players being carted off each game either. |
