1 Attachment(s)
New Orleans Saints have made guard Carl Nicks a 'respectable offer' via his agent according to Carl Nick's Twitter.
New Orleans Saints offer guard Carl Nicks a deal Carl Nicks @bigbrickhouse77 Y'all know I keep it real on this. My agent told me the saints made me an offer and it is respectable... Nicks went on to say... Carl Nicks @bigbrickhouse77 Still need time to think and talk with my family The Saints are currently negotiating with WR Marques Colston and have been all day. OMG, this is great great news. I'm giddy.
C'mon Carl, if we're close... "Sign It!!" |
Hell yes!!! Of all our free agents, other than Brees, this (to me) is the most important.

this is going to be an interesting 24 hours..i love it
|
So maybe Vilma's tweets are legit, which means Dunbar gets signed too.
|
I wonder what "respectable offer" consists of?

It may still go back and forth a few times but I think we have our man!!! |
I hope so.
Great news in the wee hours before Fa begins. Nice find BG Who Dat |
If I hear anything further, I'll let you know.
|
More good news. Nice to hear Loomis is hard at work trying to bring both Colston and Nicks back. Hearing Nicks say the offer was respectable definitely has me encouraged after some of his tweets this offseason. Now let's get those contracts signed!
|
GIDDER DUNNN!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Sign it!
|
Well lets hope he signs. SIGN IT ! don't be like DREW ( MONEY ) BREES.

Hey No Problem. I love the guy i believe he should get everything he wants. Drew has done everything you could ask someone to do. He lifted all of Louisana on in it's shoulders. Won a Super Bowl brought respect to the organiztaion. I understand I'm not mad I'm not bitter. I'm just having fun. He will resign I have no doubt.
|
Does Drew not accepting his offer have anything to do with cap space and making sure Nicks and Colston get signed? I wonder...

My guess is we have a few more players to restructure or flat out cut to fit Brees in. We may be trying to find cheaper alternatives at several positions in free agency before we cut someone we regret. I think if we sign a decent DT then Ellis may be gone. |

This could be great news come the time I wake up tomorrow
|
You know I'm starting to wonder if the Brees contract spat thing was bull**** proposed by retarded journalists. Brees could have just took the franchise tag to put him on ice, until the other two get deals worked out. Loomis could be working from a different cap figure than everyone else thinks because he knows something that we don't about Brees.

Actually, this news was an excellent distraction from an otherwise, tough week... |
It's not just Brees that has to fit under the cap...
Nicks and Colston or Meachem... We have at least two linebackers and two defensive lineman to sign... And possibly another defensive back... |
GO LOOMIS GO!!!! Don't Forget about Big Meach!!!!

That's why I'm hoping that the league won't take away any draft picks from the Saints - with the new CBA, rookies are more affordable than ever. Here's to hoping that someone like Ronnell Lewis drops down in the draft and falls right into the hands of the Saints on their 2nd round pick. Re-signing Nicks would be awesome, but Loomis and the FO have a lot of work to do to fill the rest of the roster with virtually no cap to spend if they are able to get Nicks under contract. |
So we've made a legit contract offer to Nicks, working on one with Colston(knowing he's worth at least 7 a year), and trying to get an extension done with Brees w/o having to franchise either Nicks or Colston.
Our cap-ol-ogist doing work as usual. As far as the defense is concerned, there's plenty of under utilized talent there. We just need to coach them up and get them to play how we all know they're capable of playing. Get Jenkins to start acting like a FS, Wilson on the field, continue developing Galette, and we're a DT or two away of being respectable... which is all we need to win a championship. |
This is a delight in what has been a trying two weeks as a fan. If Condon said it was a "Respectable offer", I don't know about the rest of you but that speaks volumes in its' self.
I think I see the sun piercing through those dark clouds. |

It wasn't Condon, Nicks is represented by Ben Dogra not Tom Condon although they both work for the Creative Artists Agency (CAA). Dogra also represents f.e. Nnamdi Asomugha, Mario Williams, Adrian Peterson, Patrick Willis, and London Fletcher amongst others. This Philly article paints a picture of him being a "client-first" type of an agent, which doesn't always equate to just money, which might be good news when it comes to the Saints' chances of re-signing Nicks: The Unsung Hero In The Nnamdi Asomugha Acquisition: Ben Dogra - SB Nation Philly |
My bad, I thought Condon was his agent. Thanks for setting me straight, Fin.
|
Respectable offer means it falls between the top of the mountain and the moon.
They will not go lower than X They are trying to get Z Saints came in at Y or X.5 |

No worries, in fact I thought so as well a while back, because it was mentioned that he was represented by the CAA - I thought for sure it was Condon, but Dogra is no slouch either. Last year this Bleacher Report's agent ranking had him in the 2nd place behind Condon: Ranking the 10 Most Powerful NFL Player Agents in the League Today | Bleacher Report |
If Loomis can pull this off he will be the GM of the year.
