Pete 03-13-2012 06:47 PM

Yessir!Go earn your riches that you'll never spend all of Carl!
Bitter sarcasm(painful lol)

FinSaint 03-13-2012 06:47 PM

For the right price this would be a really good signing.

|Mitch| 03-13-2012 06:49 PM

the cap space we'll save will get us Hawthorne, maybe

Danno 03-13-2012 06:50 PM

Pirating info off other boards, but fairly reliable estimates...

Nicks - 8 million/yr
Grubbs - 5 million/year

jcp026 03-13-2012 07:00 PM

If Nicks moves to another team, hopefully outside the NFC South, I hope he does become the highest paid guard in the league. Good luck, Carl.

Tampoons will pay Nicks more than $8M/year.

Grubbs might ask for more, but I guess his injuries might bring down his price a bit.

Belair57 03-13-2012 07:00 PM

didnt flaco get beat up behind that line????

Belair57 03-13-2012 07:02 PM

what injury does he have?

Could have been 4 other O-linmen's fault.

Grubbs in the #2 rated OG in free agency this year, and he and Nicks are listed as the only 5-Star guards.

LivnaLieTimay 03-13-2012 07:04 PM

I don't know much about Grubbs but from what I've read he's pretty solid. While I'd love to have Nicks back it may be better for the team to sign Grubbs and use the rest of the money to bolster the defense.

Nothing chronic as far I know, but has missed some games during past seasons - last season he at least missed some time due to turf toe.

The reason why I pointed it out was that while I was digging away on the Raven's board a couple of days ago to find out info on Grubbs, I read posts by the Ravens' fans who stated that he was injury-prone.

So, take it or leave it, I don't really have any proof either way.

He started 16 games for 4 years straight, then missed 6 games last year (PUP I think).

Yeah, I wouldn't really call that injury-prone.

I guess they were just trying to come up with excuses why him leaving wouldn't be such a bad thing.

The Ravens have made an offer to him according to RotoWorld, but they're really against the cap, so I don't know how competitive the offer is.

papz 03-13-2012 07:30 PM

Would be an excellent replacement.

Loomis doing work. It's become a common saying for me.

I remember when Grubbs entered the draft, there were quite a few people on the board wanting him.

Jpsoldier24 03-13-2012 07:42 PM

Not on Grubbs side the man is one of the top 3 gaurds i'n the leauge

You know, that in itself makes me wonder if he has a lot more potential than he's shown.

papz 03-13-2012 08:11 PM

Grubbs is a All Pro caliber guard... don't really know how much more potential he can show. The Ravens paid Yanda a lot of money when they re-sign him and they're weak on the outside. They can't afford to pay Grubbs the money he's worth and improve the overall quality of their offensive line. Flacco is no Drew... he needs the quality tackles to keep him up right. They also need to upgrade their receivers... they just couldn't afford him.

Byubengal 03-13-2012 08:24 PM

From everything I have read, next to Nicks he is the best out there. I think this would ease the sting of loosing Nicks. Nicks is suppose to visit Tampa tomorrow. Hate to say it but, he may take the money. But I will hold out that he will be back. Just trying to keep the faith....

Rugby Saint II 03-13-2012 09:51 PM

If we sign Grubbs then Nicks is gone and most likely to Tampa a division opponent. That alone is worth resigning him.

TheDeuce 03-13-2012 09:57 PM

Need to keep the line solid, but can't afford to sign Nicks after signing Colston methinks. Grubbs would be a nice replacement... and could possibly free up some dollars for defense... we are going to try and address that defense, right?

Pro Bowl guard from the Ravens, the #2 OG in free agency, and the number 9 free-agent overall.

Played at Auburn, is only 28 years old.

The Eagles interest was in all likelihood just misinformation by the NFL "insider" Jason La Canfora, and I think Triplett already called bs on it.

Nicks has only one scheduled visit as far as I'm aware of and that is with Tampa, who have the cap to use and will probably end up signing Nicks.

SapperSaint 03-14-2012 09:37 AM

If Nicks doesn't stay a Saint. Grubbs is the next best thing. If we sign Grubbs, I have no doubt in my military mind that Tampa is going to throw a lot of money at Carl. Imagine the knowledge he can give Tampa's defense aoubt Drew. Scary.

Even if they know, there is still a linebacker chasing Sproles...
and Colston is still one-on-one on the outside...
and Jimmy is still in the middle of the field...
and PT is still breaking tackles...
That's what's really scary.

Yeah, what is he going to tell them?
"Yeah...Drew doesn't like to be tackled, so try to tackle him, especially if he still has the ball. He HATES that."

I don't believe Drew and our offense is winning because of tricks and secrets, we simply out-plan and out-play most of our opponents right now.

SmashMouth 03-14-2012 12:07 PM

Is Grubbs signed yet?
