From WWL radio show.
It might be Mike just speculating, but who knows? http://blackandgold.com/audio/3360250.mp3 |
I hope it's the truth!!!
|
I believe him before anybody else
|
Yessir!Go earn your riches that you'll never spend all of Carl!
Bitter sarcasm(painful lol) |
For the right price this would be a really good signing.
|
the cap space we'll save will get us Hawthorne, maybe
|
Pirating info off other boards, but fairly reliable estimates...
Nicks - 8 million/yr Grubbs - 5 million/year |
If Nicks moves to another team, hopefully outside the NFC South, I hope he does become the highest paid guard in the league. Good luck, Carl.

Tampoons will pay Nicks more than $8M/year. Grubbs might ask for more, but I guess his injuries might bring down his price a bit. |
didnt flaco get beat up behind that line????
|
what injury does he have?

Grubbs in the #2 rated OG in free agency this year, and he and Nicks are listed as the only 5-Star guards. |
I don't know much about Grubbs but from what I've read he's pretty solid. While I'd love to have Nicks back it may be better for the team to sign Grubbs and use the rest of the money to bolster the defense.

That sounds like a VERY good deal to me.

Nothing chronic as far I know, but has missed some games during past seasons - last season he at least missed some time due to turf toe. The reason why I pointed it out was that while I was digging away on the Raven's board a couple of days ago to find out info on Grubbs, I read posts by the Ravens' fans who stated that he was injury-prone. So, take it or leave it, I don't really have any proof either way. |

Yeah, I wouldn't really call that injury-prone. I guess they were just trying to come up with excuses why him leaving wouldn't be such a bad thing. The Ravens have made an offer to him according to RotoWorld, but they're really against the cap, so I don't know how competitive the offer is. |
Would be an excellent replacement.
Loomis doing work. It's become a common saying for me. I remember when Grubbs entered the draft, there were quite a few people on the board wanting him. |
Not on Grubbs side the man is one of the top 3 gaurds i'n the leauge

Grubbs is a All Pro caliber guard... don't really know how much more potential he can show. The Ravens paid Yanda a lot of money when they re-sign him and they're weak on the outside. They can't afford to pay Grubbs the money he's worth and improve the overall quality of their offensive line. Flacco is no Drew... he needs the quality tackles to keep him up right. They also need to upgrade their receivers... they just couldn't afford him.
|
From everything I have read, next to Nicks he is the best out there. I think this would ease the sting of loosing Nicks. Nicks is suppose to visit Tampa tomorrow. Hate to say it but, he may take the money. But I will hold out that he will be back. Just trying to keep the faith....
|
If we sign Grubbs then Nicks is gone and most likely to Tampa a division opponent. That alone is worth resigning him.
|
Need to keep the line solid, but can't afford to sign Nicks after signing Colston methinks. Grubbs would be a nice replacement... and could possibly free up some dollars for defense... we are going to try and address that defense, right?
|
Who is Ben Grubbs and where did he come from???

someone mentioned the eagles wanted nicks also. i say how in the hell could they afford him after there bank busted in11 with all the players they signed starting with vicks 100 mill. the deback from oakland millions just saying guys when i heard they are after nicks i'm just all confused.

The Eagles interest was in all likelihood just misinformation by the NFL "insider" Jason La Canfora, and I think Triplett already called bs on it. Nicks has only one scheduled visit as far as I'm aware of and that is with Tampa, who have the cap to use and will probably end up signing Nicks. |
If Nicks doesn't stay a Saint. Grubbs is the next best thing. If we sign Grubbs, I have no doubt in my military mind that Tampa is going to throw a lot of money at Carl. Imagine the knowledge he can give Tampa's defense aoubt Drew. Scary.

and Colston is still one-on-one on the outside... and Jimmy is still in the middle of the field... and PT is still breaking tackles... That's what's really scary. |
Quote:
"Yeah...Drew doesn't like to be tackled, so try to tackle him, especially if he still has the ball. He HATES that." I don't believe Drew and our offense is winning because of tricks and secrets, we simply out-plan and out-play most of our opponents right now. |
Is Grubbs signed yet?
