That was then, this is now ... the problem is the big money professional sports generates. If the players don't fight for their cut, the owners just pocket more. The fans are the ones who pay the price.
I remember the days when players took local jobs in the offseason ... Alex Karras used to bounce at a popular lounge in Detroit and Gordie Howe ran a hardware store (which he eventually bought/franchised), among others ... those were the days, my friend. |
