this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Seriously, though... Where are we with Lofton? Is the FP waiting for the market to convince himself of the reality of what his current earning potential?...

I sure hope we offer him a monster contract and lock him up for five years. The guy's a beast!

We can restructure other contracts and we are likely dropping Vilma anyway, which would save about $4 million in cap space. The deadline to get under the cap isn't for months anyway. The priority is to build a great team first and worry about the cap later.

The Chamberlain Signing clearly doesn't mean that much, We wanted Hawthorne chamberlain knows the defense though, Shanle should be released in the coming days.

If he can play at (at least) a 95% level this coming season and he doesn't get suspended, I do think that the Saints should go forward with him as the starting MLB, because once again it would probably end up being financially the best way to go. Jonathan Vilma playing at a 100% health level (i.e. 2009) would definitely be worth the $6.6M cap hit, IMO. |
