I understand that people are really impatient, we live in an instant gratification society, but we gotta preach a little patience here. Brees is tagged and his choices right now are to play for the Saints or to not play at all. And actually, to sign Brees before the Gregg Williams bountygate punishments are handed down and before the defense is tweaked up, is exactly the WRONG thing for the Saints organization to do! Everyone just needs to chill out. EVERYTHING the Saints front office has done has made perfect sense, and everything Condon has done has made good sense, even if you don't like it. It will work itself out, just takes time!
Personally I think Condon kinda rushed or fast-tracked to get Peyton his deal with the Broncos because in that case it feels to me like they are selling a horse that has issues -- the quicker you lay your hustle on the buyer and make the sale, the better. The more the Broncos kicked the tires and looked under the hood on Peyton, the worse it could have been for Condon's client, giving the Broncos time to think about his neck and his age and try and find reasons to walk the price down. But Condon very obviously went in there to the Broncos office and said to them, if you wanna buy this horse, you gotta BUY NOW, without looking in his mouth or running him around the track first. It's the exact OPPOSITE of the situation with Brees that requires a more measured, methodical approach with all the pieces in place to get the deal done. So just chill, folks! |
