Where's our motivation!!!!
24 hours, thats how long it took broncos brass and Tom Condon to hammer out a deal that again made Payton Manning the highest paid player in the league. 19mil a year.
1. They seem a lot more motivated than the Saints right now. Grubbs is not enough to save this offseason. It's a start, but it now seems like we've stalled and settled in the brees negotiations as well as the visits from every almost full time MLB and OLB in the league. 2. Are you telling me that a qb coming off of four neck surgeries, and an entire year removed from football is making more than a healthy, younger, record breaking one. ( It's an argument Saints brass will soon hear in a contract meeting near you) Where's our organizations motivation to get this resovled. We got too many gaping wholes right now. Bounties, Brees, no LB's and a gaping void at the DT position, it's time to clean some of this S*&t up starting with Brees. If it's 23 million upfront Brees wants, its probably 23 million upfront he'll get, sad to say this but Mannings deal just gave Tom Condon all the leverage whenever talks resume!!! |

Not to mention Denver has one distinct advantage in getting their deal done with Manning...they are approximately $40mm under the 2012 cap!
Not sure, but Loomis might like to have that much cap space about now. |

If he had that kind of cap space left he would also have a roster as crappy as the Broncos'.

Think about this before you hang the front office. IMO we won't hear anything about Drew Brees until after the ruling comes down about the Bounty crap.
From a P.R. prospective, it makes total sense. When everyone is negatived out, the front office will in come with rays of sunshine on announcing Drew Brees has agreed to terms with the Saints. |

There are evaluations and negotiations going on constantly, and not hearing about any signings isn't necessarily a bad thing - it could be that they have numerous targets and want to make sure that they pick the right guy(s) and for the right dollar amount.
Making comparisons to Denver isn't constructive in any sense, because that franchise is in a completely different situation than the Saints. |

So my question is, why hasn't Drew accepted our offer of 19 million/year? |

Sorry guys, but after seeing the bullcrap Drew spewed during the CBA negotiations, combined with a 6 year history of Loomis negotiating fairly, I'm thoroughly convinced that Loomis offered Drew a deal that was at least as much as Drew's market value and most likely more. |

Let's face it, Condon isn't stupid, he knows 23mm would bankrupt the Saints from a cap perspective, he probably wants like 5x20mm with at least 65mm guaranteed. He would probably take a 6 or 7 around 120mm for the same amount guaranteed. Now he is piling up the leverage (Megatron, Peyton, etc.) and the Saints are waiting out the bounty punishment and the rest of free agency (Lofton/Hawthorne) and the draft and then plan on offering Brees everything up to the last dollar that they can spend.
