Where's our motivation!!!!

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Let's face it, Condon isn't stupid, he knows 23mm would bankrupt the Saints from a cap perspective, he probably wants like 5x20mm with at least 65mm guaranteed. He would probably take a 6 or 7 around 120mm for the same ...

He would probably take a 6 or 7 around 120mm for the same amount guaranteed. Now he is piling up the leverage (Megatron, Peyton, etc.) and the Saints are waiting out the bounty punishment and the rest of free agency (Lofton/Hawthorne) and the draft and then plan on offering Brees everything up to the last dollar that they can spend.

You're right, Condon isn't stupid. His job is to get as much money as humaly possible for his client.

I'm pissed because so many people assume its Loomis thats the bottleneck instead of Condon.

I've never been more supportive of Mickey Loomis than I am this season, and its mostly due to the Brees contract issue.

I trust Mickey Loomis MUCH MUCH MUCH more than Tom Condon and Drew Brees.

This! It's all a game and Brees has got caught in the middle, a position that he is obviously uncomfortable with. Things will work out fine and we will enter OTA's with a major chip on our shoulders because of all of this crap.

Some see the glass as half empty ... I see it as having just chugged the whole damn thing and am watching it being refilled for the next round.

WHO DAT!!!

I don't think he's uncomfortable with it at all, judging from the way he spearheaded the players attacks on the owners.

He's not some innocent bystander in all of this.

Thats not what you were implying is it?

The CBA stuff was right in his wheelhouse, dealing with the good of the whole. These negotiations are personal and I assure you that there is a GREAT deal of difference.

If he got 'caught up in the middle' it's his own damn fault. We'd already tried to make him the highest paid player in the game before his contract ended - at the beginning of last season. He didn't want that deal. We upped it. He didn't want that one either.

Now, I'm not blaming him for getting as much as he can, but Drew as some 'caught up' victim in this whole thing doesn't wash...even a little...

The deal the Saints offered would not have made him the highest paid player in the league. It may have been for the most overall money, but most of that was un-guaranteed money at the end of the contract and everyone knows that the final two years of a five year contract are bogus.
