Interesting Rumors (B&G SSW)

I think Loomis is playing the waiting game to perfection.

Rumor has it that talks involving the Saints and Patriots which would result in the trading of one of the Saints second round picks and a fifth round pick to the Patriots for Ty Law has come up. Chances are no move will be made until the draft draws closer. Even if an arrangement were made, any deal would likely depend on the Saints and Law agreeing to a contract extension, which could be very difficult considering the reputation of his current agents.
I assume he means our 2005 5th rounder.
I'd do it. It would also mean LB in the 1st, CB in 2nd or 3rd to develop a few years.
Wouldn't be upset if we passed on it either. He will cost us a fortune.

It seems the Jeremiah Trotter whispers are refusing to stop. Sources are reporting that some in the Saints organization are willing to give up as high as a 4th round pick in next year’s draft to acquire Trotter, but others would prefer to wait until shortly before he is cut so that they can acquire him at a cheaper price, likely for a 5th or 6th round pick. Either way Trotter is yet another young NFL veteran that reports have the Saints eyeballing still.
We may also be waiting to see if Vilma is our guy at 18. If we get Vilma, no need for Trotter. Washington may get impatient and do something with us before we pick #18.

One other area that has begun to cause whispers is that concerning Cie Grant. Grant was drafted last year with the vision that he would possibly play middle linebacker for the team. However, sources are reporting that Grant might be moved to outside linebacker, which would leave the Saints with just Darren Smith and Orlando Ruff at the middle linebacker position. Ruff is better suited against the rush while Smith is better protecting against medium range passes. The Saints could platoon the two, but it is more likely that you will see the team try to fill the hole via a trade or the draft.
Probably also dependent on Vilma falling to us.
