BOUNTYGATE PENALTIES: Sean Payton suspended one year. Mickey Loomis 8 game and $500,000 fine. Saints fined $500,000 and a second round pick in 2012 and 2012. Gregg Williams is suspended indefinitely.

The penalties for the New Orleans Saints’ bounty program over the last three seasons are harsh.

Saints coach Sean Payton has been suspended without pay for one year effective April 1, executive vice president and general manager has been suspended without pay for eight regular-season games, and the club will lose two second-round draft picks and pay a $500,000 fine.

Assistant head coach Joe Vitt also received a six-game suspension. Vitt essentially served as interim head coach when Payton dealt with surgery last October, so he would not be able to serve in such a position for the first portion of 2012.

Former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, now with the St. Louis Rams, was suspended indefinitely. The NFL’s release indicates that Commissioner Roger Goodell will revisit Williams’ status following the 2012 season.

Just give me the laminated play sheet and we'll be fine.

We'll be fine. We had a trial run last year with the leg. Drew knows the O, Carmicheal knows what he is doing and the team already has a contingency plan. Spags was a H/C so he can pick up some slack. Saints stay healthy and we go to the playoffs in spite of all this. Now, I really want us to win. That would be hilarious!

Only problem is with the leg is that he was still coaching. Was at the game in the booth, at practice, the locker room. I may be wrong but I don't think he can come anywhere near the team for a year.

That’s insane.

That’s technically a longer suspension than Michael Vick got for federal gambling charges, Ben Roth got for 2 rape accusations, and Bellicheck got for ACTUALLY CHEATING.

I will be cancelling my NFL Sunday Ticket package today. I'm done. If I come around and decide to start watching, I'll hack the games on the internet or something. Sad...just sad...
