Yea but a few years back Payton said he could not see himself coaching another 5 years. It is getting close to 5 years and with this year off I am afraid he will just say **** it and retire. Or go elsewhere

I really think we should get Gruden or Parcells. I don’t like giving it to anyone in house because it’ll just stretch us thin even more. I want Spags to concentrate on the D and I want Carmichael to focus on the offense. I really think Gruden or Parcells could do a really good job.

I think I’d rather Gruden than Parcells. Or maybe Jim Mora?

Joe Vitt is only out to week 6, I'd assume being assistant head coach he will take over then.

Pete Carmichael can handle until then I think...

I hadn't even thought about Mora, but I like it... He'd probably do it for cheap, too! As long as they don't bring Ditka back, I'm cool with whoever wants to take the temp job.

We really just need a guy to motivate, inspire, and keep the players focused and take some of the pressure off of the team because Payton has built such a good system that its really self sustaining. I don’t want a guy to come in a try to turn things upside down and do things their way. Thats the only thing I fear happening but I don’t see that happening with Mora or Gruden. I do see it happening with Parcells.

I don’t like the idea of Carmichael coaching till Vitt comes back then Carmichael handing the job over to Vitt, that won’t work out well imho. We need 1 coach, one teacher, one leader.

I am going to say Pete Carmichael is the better choice. All choices are strong.
PC and Brees have been together, have bonded. Spags is just getting here. Spags has been everywhere and has a strong background. He is more needed on defense.

Let Pete do it until Joe Vitt comes back.....after that it'll be business as usual.

I vote for Pete.

This will be great experience for him and I think he's a prime candidate to replace Sean when he decides to retire, IF Pete lasts that long before being offered a HC job. The only thing that bothers me about Pete is he's known for being an X's and O's guy with a very mild mannered temperment. Other than Tony Dungy, I can't think of many mild-mannered HC's that have succeeded.

I vote Spags 2nd. Also a prime candidate to replace Sean. He'll learn a lot about what he did wrong in St Louis working for Payton and Loomis.

I'd also be OK with Kromer as well, for the same reasons as Pete.
