Representative Cameron Henry is attempting to pass House Resolution 50 with the Senate in order to get the NFL or more specifially Roger Goodell, to possibly change the penalties handed out just recently.

The resolution drafted by the local lawmaker contains some of the following points according to HomuaToday.com:
“The New Orleans Saints have produced countless exciting and magical moments.”

“The taxpayers of Louisiana have invested millions of dollars into the success of the Saints organization by supporting stadium improvements, practice facilities, and other incentives.”

“The sanctions faced by the team will likely have a negative economic impact across the Crescent City and the state as a whole.”

Payton is the “first coach ever suspended by the NFL for any reason.”

I don't have a problem with an elected official stating his displeasure...

I DO have a problem with an elected official who's more concerned with something like this Bountygate issue instead of working on the government to keep it smaller and to spend no more than its reasonable revenues...

While I agree with the sentiment, I think it is misplaced. Just because this issue has more publicity doesn't mean he is working on this instead of the other issues. And if this bountygate penalty hurts the city economically, then New Orleans will come even closer to defaulting (and we are already on the razor's edge,) and could have VERY real consequences for all of us.
I doubt that it will, since it seems that most of the fans are rallying instead of abandoning, but the potential is there, and as a politician I would be worried about it on behalf of my constituency too. Let's please not hang this guy until he does something truly ridiculous....like try to call a hearing in the Senate to investigate the whole issue.
