I dunno. If I wasn't getting paid at my job, I wouldn't want to hang out with my boss very much...I'd be like, pay me and then we'll talk!
But I would love to open the morning paper and read about Drew and Payton playing golf together somewhere on April 17 --that would make steam come out the commissioner's ears, I'm sure of it. THAT might still happen! But it is NOT a conspiracy theory at all, to believe that the Saints organization knew this was "out there" and knew it was coming down the pike, hence the actions that they've taken recently. I think they didn't know how bad the suspensions would be (I think Payton said he was surprised initially) but I think it's pretty obvious they knew this was going to be coming long before any of us did. Things like adding the fifth preseason Hall of Fame game -- it's very convenient, almost too convenient. Things like letting Tracy Porter and Jo Lonn Dunbar go without even really trying to keep them. The fact that the Rams had an assistant DC on staff who had also been a head DC before, is very strangely convenient for them. It makes me go hmmm but we'll have to see. I think the Saints may also know more than we do about the suspensions or who is on "the list" of players who may be suspended -- I can't imagine that Tom Benson would be sitting across the table from Goodell in a private meeting and NOT ask for a hint of what was coming, how many are we talking about here, can you give me any hints, is it all guys on the team NOW or guys who left, etc. I just can't imagine that was not part of their internal private discussions, even if it was in vague terms. |

Bountygate
I understand the Saints being punished for the bounties. I just find it strange that no other teams are being looked into. Especially teams that Greg Williams coached for. And I find it kind of convenient that the NFL would punish the Saints the year that the Super Bowl is being played in New Orleans. Sounds to me like someone wants to make sure that the Saints don't play a home game for the Super Bowl.

They will all be communicating. You can get encrypted sat phones that are impossible to monitor. That's what I'd do. Unless they are blantantly communicating out in public the NFL will turn a blind eye to it. They just want them off the field and out of the facilities to show they made an effort to make the league safer once all the lawsuits start coming down range.

The last I checked Drew was tagged.
He is still property of the Saints even if he doesn't sign the tag offer. So no technically Drew can not talk to SP about football. However, they can talk about the kids and injury but that is about it. The other problem is that SP has to apply for reinstatement at the end of the suspension which means if he breaks the suspension the NFL could refuse to reinstatement. Sp would be stupid to risk it. |

So technically I think he can...Sean isn't breaking any rule. That's the whole point. If Drew isn't a Saints employee, and I"m pretty sure he isn't until he signs, then no rule has been broken. I love a good conspiracy. |
