Players on Twitter upset over 'bounty' discipline
he Twitterverse has spoken, and NFL players are not on board with the"bounty" discipline handed down to four current and former New Orleans Saints.
At a base level, this is surprising. The league has essentially come down on those involved in a pay-for-performance scheme that rewarded players for threatening the livelihood of contemporaries. Why would any player be upset about punishments designed -- at least indirectly -- to make the game safer? The answer likely goes back to the NFL brotherhood. To players, Jonathan Vilma isn't seen as a monster with the "bounty" checkbook. He's a 30-year-old three-time Pro Bowler whose career was just taken out of his hands by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Here's a sample of what players are saying: Lance Moore ✔ @LanceMoore16 I wish I could say what I want to say right now, but I know that all eyes are on us right now. I'll just say it sucks, but we'll be fine! read more:NFL.com news: Players on Twitter upset over 'bounty' discipline |

They need to be careful what they say cause god knows Goddell might suspend them for that too, Chris Kruewe was all smiles so I had to put him in his place though

You're absolutely right.... I wish the players would just shut the trap and move on. But people also have a right to speak their mind. I feel for Vilma and Will Smith, but we have to move on.

Almost all players will feel that the punishment was too harsh. They had team mates doing the same thing. Now I'm pretty sure the public will not appreciate how harsh this is.

Not me. Not even a little. Not at all. I want them to speak up. Plenty have already? Goodell isn't going to do a damn thing - there's nothing he can do to stop free speech is there?
