What can you get for a 7th round pick and 4 million dollars?
Osi Umenyiora a no-show as New York Giants kick off OTAs - ESPN New York
I wish I could kick Mickey Loomis's door in every once in a while, this is a no-brainer to me. Osi is better than any DE we have on the roster currently. Plus he could be a tremendous attribute to every other DE because he already knows Spags. - What about next year when we have to pay him for real? Is there gonna be a Super Bowl played in your home stadium next year? Time to pull out every card in your deck and some you don't have in your deck at all. You can let him play out his one year ( Which he pubicly agreed to do under the same salary) And if it works out pay him, and if it doesn't...... Shawn Rogers him!!!! - What about Will Smith? What about Will Smith makes you think he is here for more than just this year. He has made a play here or there, but not the force that he once was. I think you may not even see Will in a Saints uniform next season, wouldn't it be nice to be ahead of the curb on this one!!!!! |

I get what you're saying but there is NO other signing more important than Brees right now....

I get the no signing more important than Brees!!!! But their stubborness to sign Brees long term is also costing us valuable time to sign, or trade for quality guys. Don't be surprised if OSI ends up in Tampa because we didn't sign Brees and get that much needed real cap room in order to get a few more pieces!!!!

He's aging...kinda injury prone, and very expensive. Plus you have to take into account some other guys we might have to pay next season as well (JIMMY GRAHAM) plus the s*** load of money that we have to pay Brees.
If Loomis is struggling now with making sure we stay under the cap and pay our best players.....imagine the nightmare of trying to pay Osi in the offseason....u think we're frustrated as a fan base now with Brees vs Saints....imagine big mouth Osi vs Saints....at least Brees for the most part has held his tounge and when he has expressed frustration did it in a professional manner....doubt you'll get that from Osi. I say let Spags see what these young guys have. Spags MADE Osi what he is and if he didn't beg for a trade for Osi the minute he was available maybe he figures he can turn Romeus & Gallete into the next Tuck & Osi or at least a poor mans version which... lets be honest... is still better than what we had these past few seasons. |

I'm thinking every salary cap dime we have is going to go into Drew's pocket. Why isn't Drew signed yet? Because the brain trust is waiting to see if any of the late rounders or undrafted are going to need a little bit of the Brees fund. Although I also think that if Spags really wanted Osi, he'd already be here.

I wouldn't be against having him on the roster if it was possible along with Brees' long term contract, but I don't think signing him is a necessity with all the young guys the Saints currently have at DE, and if Spags really wanted him I'm sure they would've made a push to sign him already.

I would like to see us get him we are really going to need all guns we can get to turn this defense around to me it is our only real shot at a title this year. That said we have to get the Brees deal done first it has gone on long enough. See what is left and do some trading. Ingram being out makes our once overstocked RB position kid of out of the equation for a trade so what do we have left to deal with? We gor Sproles, Thomas and Ivory and I think we may need them all.
