Balance gets my vote. If its a shootout, the D's not doing their job and if its a shutout the O's not doing theirs. Tighter games tend to be more exciting and keep me on edge, on the other hand when we lose it pi$$es me off.

Not well at all.

How well did balanced teams fair against the SF 49'rs defense? Not well at all.

You win with points, if you have an unstoppable offense, the only time you need to worry is when you face the 1 or 2 shutdown defenses in the league.

I think it's worth noting that, this "dominant offense - ok defense" model, that pretty much made the Saints a solidly winning team under Sean Payton, the concepts that he was using to do this, were really ahead of the curve, cutting edge concepts. You have so many major things that Payton has done philosophically or strategically with the team -- the offensive juggernaut, the emphasis on unknown/groomed talent over superstars, the fast changing packages, the unique way he uses positions like the fullback and the tight end -- all of these concepts have been kind of ahead of the curve in the NFL, and adapting to the changes in the league as they happened. When Sean Payton started doing them, only a few teams in the league were doing them, and they are now being copied by other people throughout the league and becoming popular.

This year, I don't want close games. I want the Saints to win by 30 points every game. We can save the close games till next year. This year, I want to kick everybody's ass all over the field. To hell with close, I want a blowout...every game. We have something to prove this year, and I hope we do it at the expense of every team we play. I want the whole NFL to fear us. I want us on Sportscenter every night. I want to be on ESPN top 5 plays of the week every week. I want Roger Goodel to have to come to New Orleans and hand the Vince Lombardi Trophy to Vitt and Loomis. Then, since Payton is banned until after the Superbowl, I want him to come strolling out onto the field during the post game ceremony and climb up on the podium while Goodell is up there.

But I'm not asking for too much...am I?
