this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Assuming we can negotiate a fair contract for both sides, here's what I'd give. McKenzie-Our 2nd rounder we received from Washington, or Kenny Smith (They need D-line help). Woodson-Our 2nd rounder and Jerome Pathon (they could use some WR help) ...

I don\'t think we should take law no matter how low the cost is, McKenzie seems high but we really need another corner, and the Woodson trade looks good but I think they might want more.

Since it appears we have a veritable plethora of quality DE\'s on this team, would you be interested in a Woodson/Howard trade straight up?

McKenzie - our 2nd rounder (we will be better than the skins, therefor we keep the higher pick) or Willie Whitehead & a 2nd day pick. They need DE\'s, not DT\'s.
Woodson - Darren Howard & a late 2nd day pick. Law - 2nd rounder. |

WHAT trade a second round pick!?! You guys must be on crack! Everyone knows that you should never trade draft picks, they are SO valuable.

That said, I would NOT trade Howard & a second rounder for anyone.
Perhaps Howard straight up, or a 2nd rounder and a couple of late round picks (5, 6, and or 7) for Woodson, or a 3rd rounder and Pathon (or Crowell) for Woodson. I don\'t think we should trade for Law. McKenzie and a late round pick from GB for Kenny Smith straight up, or two late round picks. He\'s not worth a 2nd rounder (even if you\'re us). |

Oh yeah, we won\'t get a fair trade for a CB, everyone knows we\'re over the barrel to get one. If we trade, it\'ll cost us more than it would have pre-draft.

Boy, you guys are being a bit stingy. I would be all for a trade involving McKenzie because it would cost us the least amount to get him and his contract would also be smaller. He is a good, young CB who would come here with something to prove and he would immediately be our number one corner...but then again, so would the other guys. Green Bay really needs help at DE, but i dont think anyone would trade for Kenny Smith and Darren Howard is too good to let go. I would give up a second and a fifth to Green Bay...I would give up Howard for Woodson, and i would give up a third for Ty Law. No team is gonna give up their best corner for K. Smith or Whitehead.

JimBone,
You\'re not stingy enough. Someone remind me what we got for Kyle Turley who was a first rate RT? You want us to give up 2nd and a 5th for a CB who is only a marginal improvement (if that) over our current best guy (Fred Thomas)? Boc, The question asked was what we would give up, not what will the club do. You have such little faith in our FO - though I\'d have to say that it is not completely unjustified; don\'t you think they must be aware of a glaring need at the CB position (especially since we released Dale Carter)? Also, as far as McKenzie\'s value, you\'ll notice that GB has merely drafted two players to replace him. [Edited on 29/4/2004 by JKool] |
