Brett Favre on Saints’ Bounty Program: “I Really Don’t Care”
But actions speak louder than words, and Favre’s actions have said something entirely different. In the Vikings’ home opener against the Saints the year after that NFC Championship game, many of the players walked onto the field before the game began and raised up one finger as a sign of union solidarity againstthe bigger, richer meanies, Roger Goodell and the NFL owners.
Guess who didn’t walk onto the field or raise a finger? Favre. Brett Favre on Saints' Bounty Program: "I Really Don't Care" - The Viking Age - A Minnesota Vikings Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more. |

completely related note, why in the long miserable experience that is professional sports in MN, is that goddamn NFC Championship game the one they can't let go? Have the T-Wolves, Wild, Northstars, etc not given them enough heartache?

Because it's the game that would have created the biggest NFL venue of all time; Favre vs Manning. It was going to happen right up until Favre went Barney style after looking like the reincarnation of his former 20 something self all season. He blew it. Capiche.

Wow, talk about digging for a story. Favre said it himself, he cared about losing, not some stupid bounty-gate conspiracy. These "journalists" are idiots, and/or know NOTHING about football. I can see Favre choosing not to be involved in that solidarity business...it's not his personality to do something like that. He's a football player, plain and simple. Gimme a break.

For all Favre's faults - and he's got a few - he remains one of my all-time favorite players. Like 73Saint said, the man was a football player, plain and simple.
I read a quote a few years ago - maybe from John Madden but I can't remember - that said "If you don't like Brett Favre, you don't like football." That's kinda how I feel ... I'd be happy if the man could play for 100 years (and maybe he wants to!). |
