HOUMA -- The Saints Caravan pulled up to Southland Mall on Thursday, and players and coaches were met with support from fans, as well as some predictable and not-so-predictable questions.

During an open question-and-answer session, fans sounded off on a wide range of topics -- everything from asking tight end Boo Williams to demonstrate his new touchdown dance (which he declined to do) to asking coach Jim Haslett whether the team was trying to trade wide receiver Donté Stallworth, quarterback Aaron Brooks or running back Deuce McAllister (all of whom he said are safe).

BIG BIG WORDS FROM JIM HASLETT:

The one common denominator Haslett and General Manager Mickey Loomis tried to convey was that, despite a relatively quiet offseason, the team is primed for a playoff run this year.

\"I can honestly say that for the first time in four years, we’re a stable organization from the standpoint we haven’t had a lot of player movement,\" - Jim Haslett

So you haven\'t been stable in 4 years as head coach Jim? Interesting.

\"I think if everything falls into place, we’re as good as any team in the league. I can’t wait to show you guys that.\"

Big words Jim.

\"We’ve done some good things in this offseason to make 2004 maybe the best season ever for Saints fans.\" - Loomis

Let\'s hope these guys are right. After comments like that, and performances over the last few years, they better pray that they\'re right.

\"Excuses, excuses, excuses. That’s all anyone ever makes for the New Orleans Saints’ organization.\" - Eric Narcisse

\"Being a Saints fan is almost like being addicted to crack,\"
he said.[i]\"You know you should stop, but you just can\'t.\"

I didn\'t interpret Haslett\'s comments as \"we are elite\".... I took it more along the lines of \"we are better/more competitive\"....

In any case I\'m glad he is positive about the team at this point....
