Saints to build off of last season's strong finish
For the optimist's reading pleasure...
From: The Advocate After finishing the 2003 season with seven wins in their last 11 games, New Orleans Saints defensive end Charles Grant liked how it felt. Even though the Saints failed to qualify for the playoffs for the third straight season, Grant said the team -- especially its much-maligned defense -- took something away from an 8-8 finish. "Last year was great how we finished," Grant said Wednesday. "We wanted to be in the playoffs, but it didn't happen. "The defense played a lot better in the second half of the season, and that says a whole lot about this team coming together," he said. "We were united and we started building a family."
