LeCharles Bentley Interview
Saints Pro Bowler talks laterals, fumbles, and playoffs. May 26, 2004 - Down in the trenches. That's where successful football teams are built these days. Behind the big men who block, scratch, claw, club, and sweat for their teams to open up holes for runners and protect the man under center the ladies all scream for. Sure, they don't get their faces on the covers of video games and it's rare to see a kid wearing a jersey anywhere in the 60's, but if you're looking for a crew that is respected amongst their peers, amongst the guys who know the big men have "got their back" so to speak, look no farther than the foundation for any successful team, the offensive line. And as the New Orleans Saints push forward to rip the paper bags off the heads of haters in the crowd and possibly even take their team to the playoffs (yeah, Saints and playoffs in the same sentence, you heard it here first), they know that their line features one of the best guards in the game today, LeCharles Bentley. Funny thing is, when Bentley isn't pancaking fools on the field you might find him in the kitchen whipping up some of the fluffiest pancakes down south, as the man who clears the way for Deuce and makes sure Brooks' back doesn't get dirty is also an aspiring chef, whipping up dishes so tasty he's already performed guest chef duties at restaurants like Bella Luna and Fausto's. Bentley took time out in between workouts and hunting for recipes to talk to IGN Sports about miracle laterals, video games, and the Saints playoff push. If only he brought some muffins.
