Remember that the judge explicitly told the NFL lawyers that their argument had problems, that Goodell "sliced the salami too thin," and she also told Vilma's attorneys a few minutes earlier, that he may be right but she may not have a remedy. I think she was basically TELLING them to work it out amongst themselves and settle. Judges do this all the time.
