Why do you need incentive when you get paid MILLIONS !

I think most people misunderstand this part.
Why when I worked for a former employer, did I participate in incentive plans year round?

Because although the job was sweet, although the pay was great, it was a JOB and incentives lifted quota's company wide. Those who did NOT participate were always slightly behind.

It was like a game within a game. The prizes? Trips, flights, PC's, paid days off.
During Christmas, if you won the quota contest in your district, the prizes were substantial, as in a check for $3,000.

People would move fast, competition was tight but friendly among employees.

You still don't get it.

The pool wasn't about giving players incentive to make plays. I guarantee you no player went into the game thing he could make an extra grand if he hurt someone, or got a sack. The whole thing was more about bragging rights than anything else.

It's more like; how do you motivate guys that already make millions of dollars?

Create "incentives" or "games within the game" to keep their edge.

Like Vitt said - this team is being punished for the spoken word, not the action.
