Tight end Daniel Graham should help New Orleans Saints with experience; blocking ability
While his numbers aren’t that spectacular(224 rec. for 2,490 yds. and 25 TD), Graham at 6’3, 257 pounds will provide the Saints with a formidable blocker. The fact that he only recorded 2 receptions for 25 yds. and 1 TD last season shows that the Tennessee Titans used him just for that.
The Saints don’t want to get caught in a situation like last year when they lost Thomas for the season after multiple concussions, sending him to injured reserve. It left the team scrambling to find a replacement where they eventually signed John Gilmore who was also a blocking tight end. Given the fact that Brees knows how to spread the ball, this "new" Graham will likely get more than 1 TD for sure!

I'm guessing they are just looking for a back-up blocking TE in case David Thomas has some set-back in light of the concussions last season. Those two will complement the pass-catching TE's Jimmy Graham and Michael Higgins.

And since we don't really have a great blocking TE on the roster, I'd imagine they expect Daniel to provide some mentoring of Higgins and J. Graham, who both probably need to refine their blocking skills.

real mixed feelings on this one. watched him with the pats here in boston and i have nothing really good to say about him or anything really bad.
he is going to drop passes that will make fans want to bum rush the field at time and other times you will want to sign his praises. as blocker he can seal the edge but if your looking for a smash mouth TE to open holes he aint it. i hope the saints continue to scan the waiver wire |

Low risk.............high reward type of player. Who Knows? Maybe he'll be one of those retreads we do so well with.
