Re: Call it now... BEFORE the Saints @ Panthers kickoff
You expect a few bumps in the road with Payton being gone for the entire season, but I'm still holding the opinion that the Saints are the best of the NFC South. Carolina gained a net total of 10yds rushing last week ... count 'em, ten ... I'm not convinced they'll be establishing a running game against anybody anytime soon, eh? They're not good on special teams and Steve Smith is still Cam Newton's only weapon in the air. The Saints had an off-week in Week One & still managed to put 3x the points Carolina did on the scoreboard. Carolina drops to 0-2 in the division.

Re: Call it now... BEFORE the Saints @ Panthers kickoff
Sadly, I'm with the Dude on this one, "I'm embarrassed by our 0-2 start"...My gut and my eyes last week, tells me, I fear that we may have to sit through another trainwreck this week. We have no coach, the other team is loaded for bear, the refs will be against us, and our D is just not very good right now. BUT before you all go crazy on me, I firmly believe that the wheels will get put back on the team for the KC game, they right the ship, and THAT ONE turns out to be the Skins game that we all wanted. THAT one I absolutely feel is gonna be like 51-6 or something, and the Dome will rock. I will be firmly rooting for them tomorrow, of course, but I worry it's not there yet. I wanted to vote "We won but we're not where we need to be" but my gut just wouldn't let me. I do think it's gonna get better eventually.

Re: Call it now... BEFORE the Saints @ Panthers kickoff
I'll be honest...
I'm not sure what to expect. The Saints are loaded with talent but it just seems they weren't clicking at all. After the Super Bowl win it seemed that it took 6 entire games before the offense looked like its old self, and I'm hoping last week was something similar. I think it will be a shoot out and Carolina is a divison team. Meaning they know how to play us. |

Other...
I can predict what's going to happen before they kickoff and I guarantee I will be right. The score will be 0-0. Not sure what happens after that, though... |

Re: Call it now... BEFORE the Saints @ Panthers kickoff
The Saints are a quality team with a quality leader in Brees.
We may not do spectacular this season w out Payton to make the finesse calls that make him a great coach, but it doesn't mean we can't pull off some ugly wins here and there, or on the road. I predict an ugly road win. Ugly, but a W. |

Re: Call it now... BEFORE the Saints @ Panthers kickoff
I believe they will concentrate on establishing the run with some screens and then take shots down the field. Hopefully the defense doesn't allow them to run up and down the field scoring at will. If the defense shows up the Saint's win if it shows up like last week, won't be a good week for us fans.

Re: Call it now... BEFORE the Saints @ Panthers kickoff
... I am flabbergasted ... I am taken aback ... I am dazed and confused. I guess what I take away from the Saints' 0-2 start is the importance of Payton being on the sideline. I knew his absence would have some effect on the team's performance, but I thought it would be more or less against the stronger opponents. The talent is there, the ability is there, it's just going to take a little longer, I guess.
With this loss, my loathing for Goodell has increased tenfold ... I think I may even despise him as much or more then Matt Millen. |
