Sullivan 'not in great shape'

Having struggled with his weight throughout his rookie season, second-year defensive tackle Johnathan Sullivan vowed to arrive at Saints training camp in the best shape of his career.

Perhaps that's why Coach Jim Haslett quickly made an example of the former first-round pick after he showed up Friday for the first practice of the season carrying roughly 15 extra pounds.

Sullivan, who started 13 of the 14 games he played in last season, practiced with the second team Friday. Taking Sullivan's place with the first team was second-year pro Howard Green from LSU, who played in four games as a rookie free agent last season.
