Well it's over and so is our defense.

I'm not on the hate train, it is what it is. We have no play makers back there.

Yeah, I've gone from cautiously optimistic to skeptical of our defense to disappointed. I think they could still pick it up eventually, but our secondary is slow and in terrible position on most plays. Our line is actually a lot better, and the linebackers are better, but the entire back field is just swiss cheese.

EDIT: Also we have no pass rush whatsoever.

Not only is our defense not improved. It's actually worse - as if that's actually possible, but it appears as though it's actually possible.

This will be a long season of discontent ... We can not play defense like we have the past couple of years make a change of coach / systems and not really add more talent then we have and expect anything different. So many breakdowns on the D's part today ... Asking here do you think its coaching or players or both ... We have look like our secondary has no clue where they should be ... I can't see much improvement happening on the talent side and if our guys do not get coached and schemed up better ... LONG LONG season.

It might be time to let the youngsters get experience. Our defense cannot be any worse for it.

I couldn't agree more. I'd bench every starter if for no other reason than to send a message. We're 0-2 and given up what, 75 freakin points to two teams who may not combine for that again all year.

We ran the ball a whole lot better this game than last game. Thomas looked really good gaining 110yds on 9 carries. Ingram looked like Reggie Bush (while Reggie looked like a superstar for the Dolphins). Colston needs to get more looks. I'm not really high on Morgan. He is supposed to be the speedy one, send him deep to take the top off the D.

Cameron Jordan looks much improved. Got his first sack today. D-line plays with way to high padlevel. Lofton looks so so, sideways move from Vilma so far. Did Shanle play today? I did not see him. Robinson had 2 picks that he dropped. One of those needs to be a pick, that stuff is game changing.

Brees needs to stop throwing idiot INTs.

How about Pierre Thomas though? Why don't we run more? Why doesn't Sproles get any carries?

I think the defense will get better. I'm worried about the offense. Not play calling, though that has been questionable, but talent...especially at WR. Colston is solid and Moore is a good number 3, but we don't have a number two. We've got, like, a 1, 3, 4, and two 5s.

Giants 2007 superbowl season the defense gave up 80 in the first 2 weeks and went 0-2...2012 saints 0-2 gave up 78 points ?....scratches head

Its 0-2 and that is disappointing but there is still plenty of the season left to get this turned around!

Arizona beat the Patriots today!!!!!

Results have been very different to what was predicted for quite a few teams this season!

If we lose next week to KC at the Dome, then I will be very worried!

Anyway, all you guys out there should know by now that its never easy being a Saints supporter!

Front 7 looks bad, especiall Ellis, Smith and the LB's.

O-line looks bad, and our WR's aren't getting open.

I'm not gonna blame anything on White, he's a rookie being forced to start because of injuries to Patrick and Greer. I'd expect most rookie CB's to struggle early.

My biggest disappointments so far...
Smith (I wish he'd been suspended)
Ellis (dude doesn't even have a pulse)
Bushrod (gonna get Drew killed)
DLP (Nicks was helping much more than we knew)
Strief (slow and lost)
Hawthorne (I didn't think we could do worse than Shanle, I was wrong)
Colston (He looks hurt)

Hey I'm not twisting anything, we just might have the worst d in the league. No pass rush, and no Db's. I want us to win like everyone else on this form. I'm not here to say I told you so. I'm just calling it as I see it.
I want to fix it, so like I asked before on this thread... How? how do we fix this so we can get back on track?
My answer, run the damn ball, be better in the red zone, stop DROPPING passes. That is now we fix our D.

My point is that despite all the things you mention we were a couple of completions (read, not dropped) away from winning both of these games. If (and that's a huge if) there's one positive to take away from both games it's that as bad as we've played we were in both games till the very end.

It's hard not to be negative but I don't want to bury my head in the sand either. I just think we can still turn it around.

Yeah, very! A perfect example was that 60 + yarder that Smith put on us. The CB blew his assignment, obviously, but that's the kind of thing that can be corrected.

You get your linebackers coach/assistant coach back in week 7 who has 30+ years experience in defensive coaching, and he goes ballistic yelling and screaming in the first meeting and tears everyone on the team a new one, puts the fear of God in them, and busts out the X's and O's and makes Spags explain what the hell he has been doing the past six weeks. No seriously. We are two coaches short of every other team in the league right now. Think about that. The defense IS going to get better when Vitt comes back, and the offense will get better when Kromer can go back to focusing on coaching the O-line, like he's supposed to.

Ellis is awful...not physical. Not impressed with Bunkley, either. Hicks, however, MOVED people and he's gonna surpass Ellis and Bunkley by the end of the year. Will Smith just should have taken the 4 games off, 'cause he's already taken 2 games off so far. But I do love Cameron Jordan and Gillette.

I am impressed with our running game today. And Hartley knocking down a +50 yarder. Our special teams were pretty good today from what I could tell.

Some good, but more bad today and last week. We can't pressure a QB for jack-piss, but WAS and CAR sure can pressure ours. We're losing on the line of scrimmage on both sides. If this don't change, I see a bad moon arisin'.
