Spags system will work but not yet(Warning lot of text).
HOF game against cardinals. We INT Kolb and get him hurt and shut out the cardinals O.
Pats game in the preseason. Remember this? Remember when the D shut out the pats O and forced fumbled Brady? Jags game. A few D players get hurt and aren't 100% so the D isn't the same. What 2 things do the pats and cards games have in common? 1.The D was incredible in both games. 2. Vitt was coaching Then what happens in the texans and titans game? Aaron Kromer is made head coach and suddenly the D sucks and needs the O to carry it once again. I don't know what Kromer is doing but he has zero chemistry with spags. Vitt does. The O isn't the problem. The stats say Brees threw 4 INT but look at the actual plays. The redskins INT at the end was a hail mary thrown at the end. Every QB would have done it. And the panthers INT? 30 seconds left, no timeouts, and you're on the 30 yard line. Drew should have never been in this position to be forced to well...... FORCE the ball and end up with an INT in the first place. I get that he threw a pick 6. But the fact that all of this turmoil is going on and the offense is statistically THE SAME as it was last year is remarkable. We should being blown out when you look at how the D does. Brees makes up for his INT, he did last year, but he can't this year if the D CAN'T STOP A SNAIL. The D is the problem. Whenever Brees throws an INT, he fixes it. He did it all the time last year. He threw 2 INT against the 9ers and we STILL HAD A LEAD. Guess who ruined that game? The D. We're 0-2 now. We have the chiefs, then the packers away, then the chargers. We can beat the chiefs and chargers. If we just hold to 2-3 when Vitt, WE CAN WIN! 3-3 would be even better. BUT NO MORE UPSETS. People will say "oh spags defense only worked for the giants cause they had HOF". Go watch the pats game. That's not the giants fumbling Brady. That's us. Imagine Brees with his consistent 300 + games with the defense shutting them out. We just need Vitt. He's the person that makes spags system work and he clearly knows Brees better than Kromer does(which could allow him to throw less INT and kromer can go back to being a position coach so that the running game and 0 line will be great again). This Team will rise again. |

Re: Spags system will work but not yet(Warning lot of text).
I was in the minority during the preseason as someone who thought the D was terrible.
The guys couldn't tackle against the Cardinals, couldn't stop the run. Against New England, it was the Pats season opener and Brady played 2 series. But you want to focus on one play. Ok I still disagree with this: "We can beat the chiefs and chargers. If we just hold to 2-3 when Vitt, WE CAN WIN! 3-3 would be even better. BUT NO MORE UPSETS" So, the defense still won't be good enough for Green Bay huh? Reality check brother, if you don't think we can beat Green Bay, what makes you think we can beat San Diego? |

Re: Spags system will work but not yet(Warning lot of text).
Our offense showed signs of coming back last week, besides the pick 6 we were pretty much perfect, run game was hurting panthers D
I'd still like to think that our D is better against pocket passers, that's why it shut Brady down just like 2007 giants but I need to be convinced It may work better against pocket passers, but we keep blowing coverages on normal pass plays, Steve smith had 20 yards without a defender anywhere near him I hope our D makes a statement in the chiefs game and give the ball to PT, sproles and Ingram!! PT is a beast and I can't believe sproles hasn't had a rushing attempt yet!!! Ingram got a rhythm going last week and had a couple good runs Don't underestimate the chiefs, they will come out and try and hit us in our mouths We need to take control early and not let up! |

Re: Spags system will work but not yet(Warning lot of text).
The defense was awful in those first two games and this is saddening because I was optimistic about spags (and still am), but I've been used to awful defense for about 5 years now...
My biggest concerns are with the offense and drew brees, I know the stats are there, but I feel like our offense does not have the same flow and swagger that it had in years past. A drive where every play call sets up the next perfectly, every player executes like they've practiced all week. I know the pass protection has been a joke, but I remember drew beating pass rush with quick decision making and pin point accuracy to slow it down. I've always said the reason our sacks allowed are always so low is mainly because of drew brees. The recievers have to help him out also, way too many drops, Colston has been off, I don't know if he needs Peyton's stare to motivate him, but he looks older than randy moss out there. I kind of feel like I can go on but it's starting to depress me... I blame all of these offensive woes on Goodell of course and have complete faith that drew and the boys will right this ship. P.S. jimmy graham and Darren sproles have been beasts, I like the look in their eyes. |

and I agree, Graham and Sproles have been money. PThomas, as always, is a hero. He's become one of all time favorite players. |

Remember: Our offense has always been the reason teams have to change their game plan against us... We won 13 games last year in spite of our defense.

Preseason doesn't matter. Plain and simple.
