How much are coach suspensions hurting us?
I don't actually think that Kromer and Spags are bad coaches, I believe that losing the top two guys on the food chain has saddled those coaches with too much work. As far as I know we haven't brought in anyone new to take over the extra work left by the suspended coaches.
Kromer is normally our O-line coach and Running Game Coordinator, which is a full-time job alone, and now he has to take on head coaching duties with no real Assistant Head Coach and no one to step into those other roles for him. Vitt is out, so we have no linebacker coach at all, meaning that Spags, who should be focusing on the D-line and teaching the scheme, also has to pick up the slack on our LBs which is taking time away from teaching his scheme. Shanle made a comment after the game that some guys are lining up incorrectly in the formation which is allowing teams to pick us apart, which is exactly the type of error that the position coaches are responsible for. I don't think that taking Sean and Joe away from the team hurt so much for morale or scheme reasons, but simply because the rest of the staff isn't able to do their jobs well when there is so much on their plates. Thoughts? |

Re: How much are coach suspensions hurting us?
Clearly, but I'm talking about proportionally.
Our troubles are either: 1) The coaches suck 2) The players suck 3) We are at an unfair disadvantage. A lot of people seem to lean towards 1 and 2, and I think it is more 3. I don't think the coaches suck at all, I think some of the defensive players suck, but not as badly as they have been playing, and I don't think our offensive players suck either. I believe that the reason we are playing badly is that there aren't enough hours in the day for our guys to be able to do what they need to to be competitive right now. I also believe that we will start winning when Vitt is back to take some of the load off, but that I don't see how we can win a game before then at all. |

So far I'd say it has cost us 3 wins

Re: How much are coach suspensions hurting us?
It does suck having the coaches out, but they had all off-season to work on this. They knew they wouldn't be here, and if they didn't take advantage of the time they had with the players then that's on them.
We signed Curtis Lofton and we have Scott Shanle, it's their job to be the leaders of the defense and make sure this kind of crap doesn't happen. We may have lost Vilma but if our team cannot recuperate after losing 1 guy then that clearly show's they're not mentally tough. I don't believe we're the worst team in the league, I really don't believe that. But I think we have found out it was a mistake to make Spagnuolo our Defensive Coordinator, I was a big fan of Mike Nolan who of course went to the Falcons and helping that team go undefeated. We have the players, but when they can't perform there's nobody to blame but themselves. |

Like I said Scott Shanle and Lofton need to lead this team, they're the ones that are supposed to make sure everyone is in position. We're playing soft, if we're going to play soft just because of the stupid bounty gate, then we need to find some new damn defenders that don't give a damn and hit hard and hit harder when someone complains. |

H-U-G-E
Now you know how much Coach Payton has meant to this franchise... This is like what Peyton meant to the Colts... Drew should pay Payton out of his contract... |

Re: How much are coach suspensions hurting us?
All I know is that stats don't lie.
The Saints are 0-and-3 this season when playing teams who have more head coaches than them. vs. WAS, Shanahan vs. n/a, L at CAR, Rivera vs. n/a, L vs. KC, Crennel vs. n/a, L I'm noticing a trend, maybe we should get a head coach... Ha! |
