Henderson: Now this is SO STUPID!

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I\'m not sure either how NOLAmite meant the post but I\'m sure we can all agree acting like an idiot isn\'t a black or white thing. ALL men and/or women have the capacity to be stupid. It\'s just a shame ...

I\'m not sure either how NOLAmite meant the post but I\'m sure we can all agree acting like an idiot isn\'t a black or white thing. ALL men and/or women have the capacity to be stupid. It\'s just a shame Devery is letting his agent lead him down this road. I\'d bet, if Saints fans had known this was the amount three weeks ago, they\'d have taken donations to get him into camp.

Uh-oh ScottyRo, esquire - your own personal feelings are clouding your judgment. That\'s bad for a lawyer, no?

NOLAmite didn\'t make ANY reference to color in any way shape or form. If he was stereotyping, he was stereotyping NFL Players, not one ethnicity versus another. Well, maybe not, but to immediately assume that he was making a comment about African Americans in general shows YOUR prejudice! :P Gotcha lawyer boy! LOL

Too bad, but you didn\'t quite get me. All I did was respond to the natural essence of what was said and what it implied. I only read into it what was there.

For instance, if you told me that you put something solid and cold in my drink, I would assume you meant ice although you never said ice. You can\'t come back later and say that I\'m prejudiced against ice because you were talking about metal pellets you had kept in the freezer.

I think we\'re all grown up enough to know what he was saying. It may very well have simply been in jest. My intent was simply to caution NOLAmite about the post so that this board doesn\'t deteriorate into what I have heard the Nola.com board has become.

Lastly, I never mentioned African-Americans either. So, what does that say about your prejudices since your mind went there on its own?

One thing I was wondering, how much of this is the agent and how much is the player? Not only in this case, but in all of the rookie contract negotiations. Does anybody know the true answer? Does the player have any say in it at all, or does the player have total control?

I didn\'t find his comments racist. In fact, most of the people I know that watch GGW are caucasian. Besides, he said 20\'s not 22\'s. :P

I don\'t know the true answer, but I would guess that it is the player who has all the control. The agent is an employee of the player.

First off let me start by saying im not defending Henderson, but this is silly on both sides. You cant say how stupid this is on his side only. The Saints could just as easily throw in the 15k and get this guy into camp. Everybody talks about the players fighting over a little money, but the team is just as stupid. It is just a beneficial for the saints to get him in camp as it is for him to get there. They need him on the field now and 15k isnt going to hurt the cap. If they used a second round pick on the guy they assume that he is a player they can put in now. Just throw in the chump change get this guy signed.

I think the Saints should stick to their guns on this one. Sit him on the PS or not sign him at all. It\'s not like we don\'t have alot of good receivers anyway and most with alot more NFL experience than Henderson. The Saints did sign another wide receiver today, I believe in an attempt to send a message to Henderson and his agent. Not the the wide receiver they signed has alot of experience either, but to show him that they are not going to wait around for him. If he stays out of camp for another 2 or 3 weeks he will pretty much be lost for the season anyway.

Play for your pay! Show us what you got first and I\'m sure the Saint\'s will more than make up the 15k you think you\'ve lost.

Golf and sex are about the only things you can enjoy without being good at them.

I thought about whether the Saints should just give in. It really doesn\'t affect them all that much. Henderson is the one getting behind and thereby losing any chance of seeing the field this season.

On the Saints side, he probably wasn\'t going to play much anyway - especially with all the competition at WR. If he wants to hang his chances of playing this year, then let him.

Now, there\'s no way they can justify cutting him. Nor can they put him on the practice squad since he\'d have to clear waivers first. If he doesn\'t get into camp soon, he\'ll make the 53 man roster, but I doubt he\'ll be activated regularly.

I just dont know who all this depth a wr people keep talking about. Stallworth hasnt proved that he can stay healthy or consistent when he is healthy. Pathon is not a game breaker and drops a lot of balls. Crowell also has injury concerns. Gardner caught nothing thrown to him last year when everyone was hurt. The two lewis\'s have shown nothing in game situations. I think it is very important to get him signed and into camp. They wouldnt have taken him the second if they didnt think he could play right away. Until someone else steps up and help horn then as far as i am concerned there is no depth a wr only potential.
